Job Description
Reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for reviewing the General Ledger; gathering data for input; reconciling, analyzing and maintaining accounts; and reviewing and maintaining records for all banking activity within the Physicians Organization.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Assists with the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements
- Produces error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Prepares analyses, such as budget to actual variance analyses, on a monthly, quarterly, year-end and as-needed basis.
- Supports month-end and year-end close process
- Invoices customers and ensures timely payment
- Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly journal entries
- Updates and confirms new recurring entries
- Records daily banking activity and performs monthly cash reconciliations
- Works with Patient Accounts in resolving cash and/or wire questions
- Processes monthly accruals, researches and resolves actual vs. budget issues on a monthly basis
- Reconciles sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
- Records intercompany transactions and reconciles intercompany accounts
- Assists the Accounting Manager in meeting with Operations Managers and Directors to review and analyze their accounting reports
- Liaises with Operations Managers and their staff to resolve questions
- Responsible for the preparation of audit schedules as well as other analyses for the year-end audit.
- Maintains collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working group’s achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.
- Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Qualifications
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:- Analytical skills needed for analyzing and reconciling accounts.
- Interpersonal skills needed for interacting effectively with managers, banks and staff.
- Level of knowledge generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- One to three years of related accounting experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
- Normal office work environment.
