Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the C ISO, the Information Security Architect drives the security architecture for the E nterprise - leading design, articulating security standards, evaluating new security technologies, engineering, developing and tailoring security best practices, and advocating for the implementation of solid security principles on projects across the entire business spectrum. The Information Security Architect will collaborate with se veral functions and stakeholders including Information Technology, Risk Management, Project Management and Reporting Office, and business leadership to build security into the foundation of Boston Private's infrastructure and business processes.

Responsibilities, Duties, and Accountabilities:

  • Establish and maintain the Enterprise security archite cture and supporting artifacts
  • Develop architecture roadmaps and soluti ons for delivering protection mechanisms within a multi-layered infrastructure
  • Review existing and propose new security architectures, identify security design gaps, and formalize recommended changes or enhancements
  • Ensure security architecture adheres to regulatory and best practice compliance requirements

  • Identify and communicate new and current security threats and design security architecture elements to mitigate risk and exposure
  • Assess emerging technologies against security architecture to determine where they fill gaps, overlap with existing solutions, or extend capabilities ; integrate into se curity architecture design where appropriate , including cloud technologies
  • Continuously monitor and improve the security posture of the Enterprise in conjunction with the Information Security Program and t eam
  • Communicate progress, gaps/findings, and ensure successful handoff of deliverables to program and operational teams
  • Build relationships with stakeholders throughout Boston Private to ensure security principles and best practices are met in accordance with the Information Security Program

  • Build domain knowledge of Boston Private's environment to understand long-term risk areas that will develop as the systems evolve
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on security for the Enterprise ; provide advisory and consulting services as needed
  • Serve as a senior leader of the organization by coaching and mentoring others in the area of cybersecurity
  • Represent security needs in the System and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Perform various duties around the formation, delivery, and maintenance of Boston Private's Information Security Program (e.g. monitoring, awareness, reporting)

  • Participate in Incident Response and forensic activities as needed
  • Participate in Information Security meetings, audits, and activities as necessary
  • Perform any and all other assigned Information Security Program tasks and functions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (computer science, computer management, information technology focus etc. ) or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience with security architecture demonstrating solutions delivery, principles , and emerging technologies
  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing security solutions
  • 5+ years of consulting and engineering experience

  • 5+ years of experience with cloud computing & security considerations
  • Expert leader in security best practices on current and emerging technology
  • Experience architecting security solutions for hybrid infrastructures
  • Experience with and knowledge of NIST, ISO27001, COBIT and COSO
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to identify risks associated with business processes, operations, information security programs, and technology projects.

  • Strong business acumen; able to work effectively at all levels across the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to help business understand risk in business terms and make appropriate decisions
  • Ability to inspire teams to be innovative in dev eloping new ideas and solutions
  • Exceptional communication skills across a diverse audience
  • CISSP, CISM, CISA, ISSAP, ISSEP certifications or SANS rel ated certifications highly preferred
