Release Train EngineerOverview of PositionThe Release Train Engineer facilitates and optimizes the execution and flow of work of a Scaled Agile Framework for the Enterprise (SAFe) Agile Release Train (ART) composed of several remote cross-functional software engineering teams. The RTE is a servant leader and coaches the ART in Agile principles and mindsets. The RTE manages the scrum masters, facilitates the ART’s events and processes, and leads the ART’s Scrum Center of Excellence. In addition, the RTE helps manage risks, removes impediments, drives continuous improvement activities, and communicates with stakeholders.What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?Manage the SAFe Agile Release Train’s (ART) team of scrum masters and lead the ART’s Scrum Center of Excellence.

Coach Scrum Masters, team members, and stakeholders in Agile and Lean processes, best practices, and mindsets.

Facilitate SAFe PI Planning events and related activities.

Own PI timelines, milestones, increments, and releases.

Manage and communicate the impact of changes to PI plans.

Ensure the tracking and visibility of the Release Train’s progress on PI objectives.

Facilitate feature and epic effort estimations.

Facilitate WSJF.

Facilitate the identification, negotiation, management, and visibility of dependencies between teams and trains.

Facilitate the identification, visibility, and management of risks.

Help remove and escalate impediments and obstacles.

Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering leaders, and business stakeholders to align plans and schedules.

Facilitate ART events such as Scrum of Scrums, retrospectives, Inspect and Adapt, and system demos.

Utilize feedback and metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Lead the development of metrics, reports, and analysis to document program and train activity.

Provide staff management support including career development, training, recruiting and salary management.

Contribute to continuous improvement in organizational structure, processes, and operations.

Provide feedback on resource needs.

Take ownership of problems and challenges and proactively explore opportunities to add value to the overall organization.

What are the requirements needed for this position?Bachelor's degree preferred and/or equivalent related experience

5+ years of experience leading teams as a Release Train Engineer and/or Scrum Master.

Demonstrated understanding of the Scaled Agile Framework for the Enterprise.

Strong Agile and Lean leadership and coaching skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC).

Strong sense of urgency when needed

Proven ability to identify and mitigate risks

Team-first, servant leader mentality

Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

Good time-management skills

Excellent presentation, written and communication skills

Ability to function under pressure

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?Scaled Agile Framework certification. SAFe Release Train Engineer preferred.

Experience with Agile work management software such as Rally or Jira.

Understanding of DevOps practices (E.g.: Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Test Driven Development, Feature toggling strategies)

Experience working in the Healthcare Technology industry

Scaled Agile Framework for the Enterprise or other Agile certification
