Job Description
- Acquire/search/analyze relevant data to develop regional risk models
- Synthesize results from independent research into AIR’s risk models including development of fragility functions and monetary loss curves for a variety of assets exposed to earthquake shaking, liquefaction, landslide, tsunami, fire, explosion and etc.
- Use observed data to assess and validate model components and assumptions
- Author technical writing for internal and external publications
- Provide technical support and presentation of AIR’s suite of models to staff and clients
Qualifications
- PhD in Earthquake, Structural, Geotechnical, Blast Engineering, and/or other relevant
- 5+ years of experience in risk modeling
- Demonstrated capabilities in probabilistic and stochastic risk assessment and modeling, particularly in earthquake and/or blast engineering
- Proficiency in programming (preferably C) and data mining skills (SQL and/or other statistical analysis software such as R)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Experience with GIS applications (e.g, ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.)
- Knowledge and Experience in geotechnical engineering is a plus
- Knowledge of data science and application of advanced machine learning in engineering applications is a plus
