Art Gallery Assistant
One of the best art galleries specializing in Realism, founded 37 years ago on Newbury St in Boston, in Lexington for 30 of the 37 years, is hiring a part-time assistant for the Gallery Assistant position.
Position is for 2x a week, Weds & Fridays, 12:30-4:30pm.
A couple of months after you are hired you may be asked to help get a new show ready, and possibly 3-4 days a week for 2 weeks will be needed. The gallery schedule in the pandemic is of course changed and is to be determined, how often that will be.
Looking for someone who is balanced in graphic design and HTML with knowledge of art a plus but not necessary.
Experience in the Adobe suite necessary, specifically InDesign.
Experience with Illustrator & Photoshop.
The job is 50% graphic design, HTML, & postings; 30% art gallery info & docs;
20% artist/customer relations.

This position is designed to excite and to inform about the many wonderful phases of the art business, elements of which are pertinent to many small businesses. These elements are: sales, client & artist interaction, marketing, deadlines, learning to prioritize, attention to the retail space, communication, learning about big picture as well as attention to detail.
As to Covid-19 related issues: The gallery is large, on 2 floors. The Director’s office is in one room, the Assistant’s desk is in another room. Resumés will be reviewed first, then a telephone interview is the 2nd step if warranted, then possibly a FaceTime call as the 3rd step and an in person interview is the 4th step. We will wear masks, the gallery is disinfected and when possible, we will be 6’-10’ apart to talk without masks and windows are opened.
