Executive Director
Sustainable Marblehead
Sustainable Marblehead, a nonprofit organization working to protect the environment and
address climate change on a local level, is seeking a part-time executive director to oversee the
organizations activities and operations and guide its future growth. This is a volunteer position
with the possibility of a monthly stipend. The ideal candidate will be a Marblehead resident
who is passionate about the town, wants to make a difference in protecting its natural
resources for future generations, and is knowledgeable about policies and practices necessary
for Marblehead to achieve sustainability.
The executive director reports to the organizations board of directors and is a voting member
of the board. He or she also serves as an ex officio member of the organizations four working
groups (Clean Energy and Public Policy, Conservation, Education, and Transportation) and
works with the executive committee to ensure that the groups activities are well coordinated
and effective.
In addition, the executive director is responsible for:
Working with the board of directors to set the organizations strategic goals and track
progress in meeting those goals;
Overseeing the organizations marketing, fundraising, and communications activities
and acting as the chief spokesperson for the organization;
Ensuring that the organizations financial resources are well managed and its nonprofit,
tax-exempt status is protected; and
Working with board committees, consultants, and interns.
