REACH Beyond Domestic Violence provides safety and support to survivors of domestic violence and empowers community members to promote healthy relationships. Our programs include 24-hour hotline services, emergency shelter, support groups, legal advocacy, specialized children's services, community-based survivor advocacy programs and community education and training. Each year, REACH works with over 6,000 people in our 27 community service area and beyond.

The Shelter Operations Specialist works in our 8 family emergency shelter with survivors of domestic violence and their children. The Shelter Operations Specialist reports to the Director of Residential Programs and works with other members of the shelter team to support a safe and healing environment in a 24/7 shelter program. Among other responsibilities, the Shelter Operations Specialist provides daily house coverage, answers REACH's 24/7 domestic violence hotline, is responsible for the daily operational and maintenance needs of the shelter, manages any conflict or crisis that may arise, and supports volunteers who are scheduled during daytime weekday hours.

The Shelter Operations Specialist must be a team player, self-motivated, understand the operational needs of a residential program, and be systems oriented.

The Shelter Operations Specialist maintains a presence in the shelter milieu and works along with other shelter staff members to maintain a comfortable, safe and healing environment within a well-maintained physical property.

Responsibilities of the Shelter Operations Specialist include:

Shelter operations and maintenance:

Complete daily internal and external walkthroughs of the property and address any concerns related to physical upkeep of the property

Proactively maintains supply inventory and replenish as needed

Create and implement schedule of ongoing property needs such as appliance maintenance, periodic safety checks and re-certifications, etc.

Work with external vendors and coordinate operational needs such as pest control, fire safety, snow removal etc.

Create and maintain internal systems that support the work of all shelter staff and volunteers

Coordinate internal and external donations and facilitate the pick-up of items

House coverage:

Provide house coverage at REACH's 24/7 domestic violence shelter

Answer REACH's 24/7 domestic violence hotline

Provide on call back up to the shelter on a rotating basis

Guest/Milieu support:

Provide in the moment support to shelter guests and have follow up conversations with guests regarding any concerns that arise

Provide conflict resolution and crisis management intervention as needed

Intermittently assist with guest transportation as needed to meet their basic needs ( medical appointments, meetings with providers, etc. - use of personal car required)

Assist with advocacy needs including intakes as needed

Provide support and training to shelter volunteers who are scheduled during weekday daytime hours

Other responsibilities:

Attend trainings that are relevant to enhancing the residential program

Participate in clinical supervision and team meetings

Attend events and support programming throughout the agency

Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:

This is a salaried non-exempt position on a fluctuating workweek

40 hours per week, typically 10a-6p or 11am- 7pm, Mon-Fri with flexibility to adjust hours based on program needs

Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday coverage will be necessary including coverage during inclement weather

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent human services experience

Able to climb and descend stairs, bend, and lift items up to 30 pounds

Own Transportation

Bilingual candidates preferred

2+ years of residential experience preferred
