Imagine loving what you do and where you do it.Target Openings 1Job Description Summary InsuraMatch is an independent agency company, owned by Travelers Insurance, that uses an innovative online platform to help consumers compare offerings from more than 40 carriers across the United States. With a focus on personal insurance, InsuraMatch offers coverage for auto, home, boat, motorcycle, renters, umbrella, and flood, among others. InsuraMatch operates independently and manages all carrier partnerships.The Software Developer Co-op will work with the InsuraMatch software engineering team, responsible for assisting with the development and operations of our applications. In this role, you will work with the Chief Technology Officer and members of the engineering team supporting all aspects of InsuraMatch business.The Co-op will be involved with projects from design through implementation, testing and deployment of solutions. This includes, but is not limited to, evaluating, web application architecture, security requirements, and DNS configurations and generate detailed documentation for a custom solution that satisfies the customers' business and technical requirements.Primary Job Responsibilities:- Work with development staff to assist with the build and testing of the application platform.
- Actively participate in the development and maintenance of the source code for the InsuraMatch System.
- Work closely with the engineering, operations and sales team to support on business initiatives.
- Must be enrolled in a BA/BS program majoring in computer science or related major
- Knowledge in one or more web development languages, methodologies, and/or architectures
- Basic understanding of development methodologies, consulting best practices, and a general understanding of common web and application architectures.
- Must be outgoing, action oriented self starters - capable of independently solving technical problems
- Strong communication skills - must be able to speak clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences.
- Self starting, strong work ethic, with enthusiasm and ability to thrive in a team environment
- Outstanding communication, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Development skills in Node.js
- Knowledge of MySQL and SQL query and schema design
- Knowledge of agile development working model - Jira, Confluence, Git
- Knowledge with Chef, Puppet, and/or other automated deployment methodologies
- Operational knowledge of Windows, Linux, .NET, and Java platforms
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including security and systems design
- Understanding of implementing and operating IT infrastructure (e.g., servers, networks, storage). Experience with the public cloud is a major plus.
- Strong people skills - the ability to get along with people at all levels of an organization, and get things done through influence and persuasion.
