Storage Services Administrator

TITLE: Storage Services AdministratorWe are looking for a passionate storage professional who is excited by the responsibility of securely storing and protecting 45PB of research data much of which is attached to a High-Performance Compute Cluster. The successful candidate is excited about providing a great customer experience to our research community, students, faculty, and staff. We seek an individual who wants to be part of team, who is willing to bring new ideas to the group, and who can challenge existing processes and methodologies.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience.A minimum of 5 years in Storage Administrative positions with direct interaction with servers and hardware or equivalent IT experienceExperience with Isilon storage, including installation/configuration, software configuration, and troubleshootingA good understanding of LINUX and Windows permissions, shared folders, remote application execution, and associated best-practicesExperience managing large-scale multi-vendor projects and deploymentsThe position requires the ability to lift hardware (typically less than 50lbs, but occasionally greater than), reach up to 6 or 7 feet above the ground, and work comfortablyRESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintenance and management of Isilon storage systemsService-related issuesHardware installation and troubleshootingConfiguration management and troubleshootingPerformance tuning and optimizationConfiguration and utilization of hardware and software monitoring systemsResponsible for reporting and tracking storage utilization and trends over time to predict growthResponsible for monitoring success of replication and tiering of dataQuickly escalate all issues to supervisorUnder supervision participate in data migration and hardware upgrade projectsReview new and existing IT projects, systems design, and procurement/outsourcing plans for compliance with IT standards and architectural plansTroubleshooting of any issues clients and users experience through to completion and resolution, including vendor escalation when necessaryCreate and maintain documentationImplement additional storage tiersParticipate in off hours on-call scheduleThis position will require occasional night and weekend workOther duties as assigned
