Job Description

This is for a 6-month position from July - December 2021.

Join our protein and cell engineering team in the Biologics Drug Discovery department at Biogen’s Research and Development group. The co-op will involve the engineering of cell lines using viral transductions and the Crispr-Cas9 system. The project will involve extensive tissue culture and molecular biology.

Position Description:

Biogen’s Research & Development team is looking for co-op to join our protein and cell engineering group, which is a part of the Biologics Drug Discovery department. The co-op’s role will be to generate various cell systems to be used in the characterization of the binding and function of antibody therapeutics with impact across different project teams and therapeutic areas. This position will involve training in molecular biology as well as cell engineering methodologies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design of viral expression constructs and viral transductions to generate relevant cell systems
  • Generation of KO and KI cell lines using CRISPR.Cas9 technologies

Qualifications

To participate in the Biogen Intern or Co-op Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program, returning to the academic program following Biogen Intern or Co-op assignment
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.2 preferred
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies

Additional qualifications:

  • Familiarity with aseptic tissue culture technique and basic molecular biology
  • Good oral and written communication
  • Exceptional documentations skills

Education

Current undergraduate student or Master’s degree candidate.

Genetics/Molecular biology, Biology, Biotechnology majors preferred.
