Data Engineer

Hybrid: 2 days a week on site or Fully Remote

Location: Cambridge, MA

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the Science and Technology platform and project teams to

design and build scalable, resilient, and distributed applications.

Develop and maintain a scalable data architecture.

Implement and maintain data quality and integrity across programs.

Develop and maintain reporting and ETL environments and support the needs of

end-user analysts.

Work directly with researchers, analysts, program directors, and other end-users to

gather feedback, align on requirements, and communicate dependencies.

Provide constructive feedback on data architecture design and data model decisions.

Design and implement RESTful APIs and internal tools.

Take part in monitoring and benchmarking test and production systems.

Provide foresight while planning sprints and the product roadmap.

Required qualifications

4+ years of professional experience building products with a focus on data (SQL or

NoSQL) and advanced knowledge of SQL.

Professional experience in one or more programming languages- Python, JavaScript,

Java, C#, Go , for example.

Experience in both Object Oriented and Functional programming paradigms.

Professional experience using both relational databases (SQL) and NoSQL data stores.

Ability to pitch in on various database-related tasks, depending on the need.

Solid understanding of data modeling techniques.

Competency working within Linux environments.

Strong communication skills, including experience collaborating with technical and

non-technical partners.

Preferred qualifications

Experience with Reporting/ETL tools.

Experience creating products that use one or more AWS service.

Understanding of best practices in networking and security.

Familiarity with Linux containers and virtual machines is a plus.

Familiarity with scripting languages (bash/python/ruby) is helpful.

Demonstrated curiosity about the data and the business processes.

Understanding of research and the scientific process, particularly in the healthcare

domain.

Experience working in a matrix organization.

Background in computer science or a related field.
