About This RoleBiogen is accelerating gene therapies that may one day help transform the way we treat neurological diseases. Biogen's Gene Therapy Department is searching for a technical leader to manage a team of scientists within the Purification Process Development group. You will drive purification process development and evaluate and implement new technologies to support Biogen’s AAV-based Gene Therapy pipeline. You will also support the technical transfer of purification processes into Biogen’s manufacturing facilities.
What You’ll Do- Manage a team of scientists responsible for purification process development to support Biogen’s clinical gene therapy programs. Provide scientific mentoring to their peers and potential direct reports.
- Work collaboratively within the Purification Process Development group to develop purification processes to support Biogen’s GT programs. Engage in internal collaborations with other groups to achieve objectives and implement scientific advancements in the Gene Therapy field.
- Manage technical projects to ensure milestones and timelines are met. Openly communicate across functions and departments while maintaining good collaborative relationships.
- Provide technical expertise on topics pertaining to AAV purification development. Present findings and/or results to senior management, external stakeholders, and industry peers at conferences.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies to streamline process development activities and advance Biogen’s AAV production processes
You will drive technology innovation internally and help provide oversight of multiple projects as a subject matter expert.You will have opportunities to represent the Purification Process Development group on program specific multifunctional technical development teams.

Qualifications
Education- BS, MS or Ph.D. in chemical engineering, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or other related science or engineering disciplines with relevant industrial experience in Biopharmaceutical development
- 6+ years' experience in biotech/biopharma industry
- Expertise in purification technologies, including chromatography and filtration
- Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of publications and presentations
- Experience in purification process development is desirable
- Experience with purification of AAV or other viral vectors is a plus
