Small Molecule Testing Scientist

Job Description

• Perform routine characterization testing for drug substance and other additive materials: Particle Size analysis using laser diffraction or image-based techniques with Malvern 3000, Camsizer, Morphologi G3; powder flow analysis using Ring shear Tester, FT4 Powder Rheometer; true density, bulk density, tapped density, surface area (BET), surface energy (IGC), SEM, powder XRD, TGA, and DSC. Develop expertise in method development for the characterization techniques
• Execute routine activities for drug product: preparing formulated blends, making tablets via tablet simulator, characterize the hardness of tablets, friability, disintegration.
• Responsible for management of oral drug product lab (ODPL). Ensuring equipment readiness for next production, equipment maintenance, and material allocation, material inventory. Assist project-lead scientists to conduct production runs. Develop expertise in key manufacturing processes and equipment operation.
• Documentation including writing of reports for experiments, writing of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for characterization tests and equipment operation

Qualifications

·BS in Pharmaceutics, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences and other relevant disciplines

·Knowledge in characterization techniques for powder flow, compact mechanical strength and other physical properties including particle size distribution, surface area, surface energy, imaging etc

·Experience with Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point

·Internship experience is highly desired
