POSITION SUMMARY

The Hostel Manager/Field Support Lead is directly responsible for the Hostel operations at HI Hyannis while also leading and providing hands on support to management at 4 other seasonal hostels on the Cape. The successful candidate will have strong management and interpersonal skills. As Field Support Lead, the successful candidate will develop a strong working relationship with key hostel staff to assist with improved processes and operational consistencies across each individual hostel location. The ability to work independently in this role is essential. This is a live-in, seasonal position that will run from April 2020 “ October 2020 (est).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of HI Hyannis

Directly manage up to 5 hostel employees, including a Guest Service Supervisor.

Maintain safety and security of hostel buildings and grounds.

Monitor and maintain accurate reservations.

Respond to guest feedback or concerns in a timely and friendly manner.

Set staff schedules and responsibilities, ensuring coverage for a positive hostel experience.

Lead by example, ensuring the hostel's standard operating procedures for handling cash and credit card transactions, for operating the reservation system, and for tasks required at the open and close of desk shifts are met.

Welcome and check-in guests; orient guests to hostel facilities, customs, and policies; provide information about the local area.

Take on other various tasks such as gardening, painting, or light maintenance as needed.

Fill in for hostel staff as needed, encouraging a teamwork environment.

Field Support Lead “ 5 hostels

In addition to the above responsibilities, this role will be also responsible for proving basic hostel operations training and support to all HI USA Cape & Island Hostels for the season:

Ensure operating compliance with local guidelines and requirements.

Provide first line of training and support with Guest Centrix PMS to staff.

Provide first line of support around HI month end hostel closing accounting processes.

Provide first line of support around hostel operations, processes, tools and more. (Hiring, Credit Card Processing, ReviewPro, QS, Engagement, CLMI, Group Purchasing, OTAs, Concur Processing, etc.)

Check-in, assist and communicate with managers at other hostels on a regular basis.

Maintain/Increase standards to ensure a positive hostel experience for guests.

Provide basic general support for staff on all issues related to hostel operations.

Visit all hostels on a periodic, regular basis (Minimum one hostel per week)

Ensure operational consistency across the all hostels.

Oversee/support all hostel maintenance needs.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

4+ years of experience in Hostels Operations or Management preferred

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Ability to lead a cohesive team

Ability to multi task, with attention to detail

Strong and mature work ethic

Willing to travel up to 40% of the time

Able to lift up to 50 lbs
