Executive Director

The Sandwich Chamber of Commerce of Commerce is a voluntary membership organization of more than 400 for profit businesses, non-profit organizations, individuals and government partners that have joined together to promote and advocate for its members business and civic interests. The mission of the Sandwich Chamber is to promote the wealth and well-being of Sandwich business while preserving our town's natural beauty and character.

Position Summary

We are seeking a high energy and passionate leader to work with our staff, our volunteers and our community to lead our Chamber. Under the direction of the Board of Directors (the Board), the Executive Director (Director) of the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Chamber office and will create and implement work plans to achieve the Chamber goals. The Director will provide leadership to maintain and grow our membership, management of staff and evaluation of organizational efficiency. As the Chambers ambassador, effective communication is essential in promoting and maintaining a positive relationship with all stakeholders.

This is a full time exempt position reporting to the Board of Directors of the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide professional leadership working with our staff and membership. Maintain a functional office with special emphasis on providing a professional business office environment. Manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously in an organized and timely manner. Oversee the Chamber finances and fiscal reporting (coordinating with the Treasurer) to consistently keep the board and committee chairs informed with accurate and timely financials. Utilize a variety of communication including social media to promote the Chambers yearly goals and sponsorships. Promote Chamber image, activities and events along with quality customer service to all members, visitors and other community constituents. Develop and maintain beneficial relationships with other local non-profit organizations, Chambers of Commerce, Tourism Agencies, and city/town government entities. Perform public relations and public speaking related to the Chambers interests.

Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, management, performance evaluation and termination of all paid staff.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated leader with passion and vision to grow an established institution within our community. The candidate will be engaging and inspiring to the organization and all its stakeholders. This individual will be highly motivated and dedicated to the mission and vision of the chamber and able to articulate the value proposition to all constituent groups.

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree preferred in business administration, public administration, marketing or related field. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and related software, as well as familiarity with QuickBooks is a requirement.

Executive experience, or experience in a senior management position is preferred, but an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds and interests a must. Strong leadership characteristics to include organization, negotiation and diplomacy is also required.
