When not building our Affinity Chromatography resins, the POROS Manufacturing, the Scientist I will be supporting general production related operations within POROS manufacturing. They will also act asa Process Knowledge expert by assisting various departments in change-management processes, such as Engineering Change Orders, Safety Management of Change, Maintenance projects, PPI projects, etc. They will also assist with scale up and new product introductions into the large-scale manufacturing suite.What you will do…Perform duties within the corporate EH&S Standards and place proper emphasis on safety and quality.

Become a manufacturing process owner through the production of our Affinity Chromatography Resins as part of our Affinity Resin manufacturing team providing training and technical leadership where applicable.

Operate various process equipment including reactors, pressure filters, pumps, filling, labeling and packaging equipment according to written SOP’s and UOP’s in a large scale, chemical batch manufacturing process.

Maintain batch and equipment records per department’s ISO13485 standards and Good Documentation practices with a high focus on quality, limited supervision and modifying SOPs as the need arises through our Change Control Process.

Perform required in process testing to continue manufacturing processes such as pH, conductivity, moisture/solids content analysis, particle size analysis, refractive index, and UV/VIS analysis.

Implement Quality CAPAs as needed to mitigate against future Quality issues within the team.

Proactively find opportunities for improvement and improve efficiency via Practical Process Improvement (PPI).

How you will get here…EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field (preferably Chemistry or Chemical Engineering) preferred.

Experience1+ years of Chemical or Biotech manufacturing experience or B.S. preferred

Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesExperience with Delta-V Process Control System and SAP in a cGMP environment is desirable.

Excellent oral and written communications skills required.

Flexibility in working hours is a must with the ability to stand for 80% of the shift.

Ability to move 40 lbs up one flight of stairs, push 55 gallon drums on wheeled dollies.

Must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including work uniform, steel toe shoes, hair net, safety glasses, bump cap, and nitrile gloves. PPE may also include face shield, respirator, and smock.

Ability to interpret data, perform basic calculations, and troubleshooting skills.

Highly organized and excellent at multi-tasking, proactive, hardworking, and self-motivated.

Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
