Solidus is searching for a Data Scientist that will have the ability to work remotely.

The successful candidate will join a team that develops embedded software, feedback control, and autonomy algorithms for prototype systems spanning all Laboratory mission areas and operating domains. The Group is seeking a data engineer to develop the backend elements of a data warehouse and processing pipeline for robotics and autonomous systems data. Robotic systems generate a large volume of data from sensors and internal processing. Storing and reusing that data to validate and develop new autonomy algorithms is a crucial element of building innovative and robust autonomy capability. The data engineer will work in a team of autonomy-, frontend-, and devops-focused engineers to conceive, architect, and implement data and processing systems that accelerate and enhance autonomous systems prototyping.

Required Skills: - US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Clearance - BS +4 years of experience - Hands-on experience building large-scale data warehouse and processing pipelines using Python or Node.js. - Broad knowledge of the general features, capabilities, and trade-offs of common data warehouse (e.g. Apache Hadoop); workflow orchestration (e.g. Apache Beam); data extract, transform and load (ETL); and stream processing (e.g. Kafka) technologies. Hands-on experience with several of these technologies. - Demonstrated ability to design / architect data systems and communicate the design to stakeholders with effective diagrams and verbal discussions - Professional approach to software development with habitual application of software engineering best practices. - Experience working in small teams and owning responsibility for many elements across the backend, such as API endpoints, ETL, and databases - Node.js - Backend Programming (SQL) - Python - Cloud-based Solutions (e.g. AWS, AZURE, Google)

4 years of Experience with: - Databases and Data Engineering for Big Data - Experience with ETL (Extract, transform, and load) - Hands-on experience building large-scale data warehouses

Preferred Skills: - Big Data Analysis - Data Architectures - Data Driven Open Architectures - Autonomous Systems and Robotics - Web Application Development - Docker - Kubernetes - Experience with robotics or autonomous systems data and/or the Robot Operating System (ROS). - Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. - Experience with cloud platforms and ecosystems, such as AWS. - General knowledge of machine learning and reinforcement learning concepts, frameworks, and environments, such as Pandas, TensorFlow, and Jupyter Notebook.
