Solidus is searching for a structural engineer.
The successful candidate will join a group provides innovative multidisciplinary engineering solutions though the development of advanced mechanical and aerospace technologies for sea, ground, air, and space-based prototype systems for national security applications. Examples include the development of structural-material systems for space borne imaging and laser communication terminals, heat exchangers for high-flux laser and RF solid-state devices, and aerodynamic designs and multifunctional materials for UAV platforms. Engineering solutions are developed through the utilization of appropriate technologies coupled with high-fidelity models and multidisciplinary simulations, environmental and performance characterization testing, and the utilization and development of advanced materials to optimize solutions to meet ever increasing performance, size, weight, and environmental challenges.Responsibilities: - Analysis and test of structural solutions involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for terrestrial, airborne, and space-based systems. - Specific analyses to include damage tolerance, safety, and performance modeling. - Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue, thermal analysis, and structural/thermal/optical performance analysis. - Ability to perform hand calculations in conjunction with utilization of CAD and finite element analysis software. - Tools utilized such as NASTRAN, CATIA, FEMAP, and ANSYS.Required Skills: - ship and the ability to obtains a DoD Clearance - BS with 8+ years of relevant experience - 8+ years of experience with static and dynamic structural modeling and analysis for load bearing - 8+ years experience with NASTRAN - 8+ years of experience with static and dynamic structural modeling and analysis - Experience with structure, thermal, and optics - Expert in the use of commercial finite element softwarePreferred Skills: - 8 years experience with Line-of-Sight jitter analysis - 8 years experience with STOP (Structural, Thermal, Optical Performance) analysis - 8 years experience with structural testing and model correlation - 8 years experience with CATIA - Functional use of Solidworks - Familiarity with FEMAPReq ID - 3997Applicants selected must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
