Solidus is searching for an Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer.

The Engineer will work on a variety of short duration (6-18 month) projects that bridge across many disciplines. The candidate is needed to complement the range of existing expertise and provide multi-disciplinary design, integration and testing of novel prototype systems. The engineer must be hands on and enjoy building hardware, integrating it with electronics, developing and executing functional tests, and troubleshooting hardware/software prototypes. The successful candidate will take direction from and interface directly with lead design engineers to create the designs for new sensor systems.

Requirements - ship and able to obtain a Secret Clearance - MS in mechanical, optical, or aerospace engineering with 3 years minimum relevant experience or a BS with 5 years minimum relevant experience

Required Experience - Able to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and demonstrate good written and oral communication skills - Familiar with a variety of fabrication methods, how they affect the design, and how to optimize the design to facilitate ease of fabrication, assembly, and testing. - Ability to successfully interface with internal and external machine shops and production houses for fabrication of the prototypes. - Hands-on experience across the design, build, and test phases of prototype development, and be comfortable using CAD modelling tools, create specifications and detail drawings, and familiarity with thermal/structural analysis - Work both independently and in highly motivated multidisciplinary small teams. A primary emphasis remains on practical hands on skills rather than theoretical. - Experience with Aircraft/Missile/Satellite System, Electronic Packaging, Rapid Prototype and Test. - Environmental testing experience (for example: TVAC, vibration, shock, thermal).

Preferred - Mechanical design and fabrication for complex sensor systems that include optics, camera sensors, and mechanisms, especially for defense applications (aircraft, ships, vehicles) and defense sensor systems (radars, EO/IR, RF)
