Sunovion Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Paralegal, Intellectual Property to join our Legal Organization in Marlborough, MA.Responsibility for the implementation, enhancement, integrity and maintenance of the docketing database and electronic files, as well as preparing patent/trademark docket reports and IP portfolio reports.Essential Functions

Daily processing of incoming and outgoing correspondence (including correspondence with outside counsel, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, foreign patent offices).

Ensuring that all docket dates and all patent/trademark related deadlines are met.

Review of files and assistance with any file transfers.

Working closely with the legal team to develop, implement, and maintain docketing processes, procedures and policies for invention disclosures, patents, and patent applications.

Maintain accuracy and timely payment of annuities.

Gathering prior art and preparing Information Disclosure Statements (IDS) in timely manner.

Track/obtain signatures on assignments, Plan of Action (POAs), etc. in a timely manner.

Organize and maintain legal files, and perform additional projects as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required ​

Must have knowledge of patent terminology, prosecution procedures, and deadlines for both US and foreign matters, and knowledge of current USPTO rules and procedures. Experience using USPTO EFS-Web and EPAS preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of docketing experience using a computerized docketing system (CPi docketing software experience preferred).

Experience with worldwide maintenance fee renewals and annuity practices.

Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Excellent writing, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Strong attention to detail, good judgement, prooing and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressures, and to communicate effectively.

Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively independently and with others, and maintain productive working relationships across a range of functional groups and levels.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the company's affairs.

Willingness to become a notary public.
