IT Technical Support Analyst - Direct Hire - New Bedford, MA - $70-90K/year

Job Description:

This Company is looking to add a key member to its IT team to support its growing business. This organization is a leader in distribution with over 200 employees and over 15 locations throughout New England. The IT Infrastructure operates in an MSP supported environment with an internal IT team that provides critical and timely support its employees across a variety of business applications.

The ideal candidate for this role has a minimum of 3 years' experience working with employees or clients on a variety of general IT support matters. They have an entrepreneurial mind set and demonstrate an overall positive, can-do attitude. They are a great teammate, respectful of established protocols and processes while consistently looking for ways to improve IT processes and applications. They are a lifetime learner who enjoys discovering new technologies and is constantly looking to expand their IT skillset.

This role will report to the firm's IT Manager with regular and direct visibility to the owners of the company.

This is an onsite position based in New Bedford, MA. IT support provided to branch employees will primarily be accomplished via the phone and/or by remote access to the users' session. Occasional branch site visits will be required (travel costs will be reimbursed).

Experience/Skills Level Required:

General IT Support

  • Strong knowledge of IT and telecommunications infrastructure, hardware and software
  • Strong PC skills, proficient with MS Office and windows environments
  • Understanding of WiFi and tools available to diagnose issues
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve challenging technical issues
  • Ability to keep up to date with current and future technologies
  • Proven background of providing excellent customer service
  • Comfortable training new and existing employees on technology
  • Humility and the ability to escalate issues where there is no clear path to resolution

Systems, Network and Security

  • Windows Server 2012 - 2019 (installs, configuration, administration)
    • Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Proven knowledge addressing DNS and DHCP issues and configurations
  • Experience configuring client VPN, RDP and other remote technologies for users
  • Administer and troubleshoot printers, file share mappings, and NTFS security permissions.
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services), Brokers and Gateways
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft O365 (setup, configure, troubleshoot), Outlook
  • Experience installing, supporting, and troubleshooting business critical client-server applications
  • Virtualization - VMware and Hyper-V - VM deployment, migration and management
  • Scripting - PowerShell and Batch
  • Cloud - Azure AD, SharePoint, and OneDrive
  • Windows 10-11, Mac OSX+ and Linux
  • Collaboration - Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive
  • Experience supporting and managing switches, access points, routers and firewalls
    • Meraki, HPE/Aruba preferable
  • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN architectures
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose TCP/IP networking issues, VLANs and connectivity
  • Experience with Security Technologies including Endpoint Protection, MFA and Encryption
  • Working knowledge of storage technologies including SANs and NAS
  • Experience supporting an ERP. Exposure to Progress Database is a plus (not required). ERP is Infor Distribution SX.e on RHEL

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general IT support to all levels of the organization and across all departments
  • Manage an ongoing queue of IT related requests from employees;
    • Work with the IT Manager to identify and prioritize critical requests as needed
    • Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, phone and/or email in a user-friendly and professional manner
    • Keep end users informed about the status of issues
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues involving internet connectivity, email issues, VOIP, wireless devices, printers, RF guns and more
  • Work to support vendors (MSP, ERP consultant, telecommunications vendor, print services company, etc) as needed to resolve technical issues across all business applications and IT related equipment
    • Work with the IT Manager to negotiate contracts
    • Maintain agreements with IT vendors (i.e. telecommunication, software agreements, etc)
  • Assist IT Manager in maintaining comprehensive documentation of IT environment
  • Must be able to travel short distances on rare occasions (travel costs to be reimbursed)
  • Occasional weekend, evening, or other non-standard work hours may be required
  • Occasional physical effort (i.e. lifting, moving computer equipment)

Preferred Certifications and/Education

  • IT Associates Degree (or equivalent Experience)
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+
  • Cisco CCNA
  • VMware VCP
