Description: Under limited supervision, setup, and operate precision machines ( CNC, Press, CMM, FARO Arm, Milling Machine, Band Saw, Shear etc)Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.Clamping, Deburring of girders and truck frames.Assembly/Disassembly of wheelsetsMeasuring of Griders, Truck Components, Wheel SetsPeforms daily maintenance and cleaning of machines and workcell per established checklistsSetup, Measurement of machine toolsExpert in Sinumerik or MAE Wheel ProgrammingExpert in Settingup Measuring Programs for CNCExpert in Setting up programs for CMM and FARO armAble to train Team members.Able to coordinate daily operations within machining cell (3-4 machines/machinists).

As a R&D Lead Machinist, you will be responsible for:• Manage the machine shop, plans, and propose any need for machine, tools, software, and measurement equipment.• Organize machine shop and maintain its equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instruction; troubleshooting malfunctions and coordinating for any repairs.• Plan machining activities for R&D using 2D/3D data, engineering plans, specifications and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).• Review part designs (models and drawings) and provide design for manufacturability feedback.• Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.• In collaboration with R&D engineers, maintain and establish safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.This position may suit you best if you are familiar with what is below, and would like to do develop your career with Healthineers• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment (including CMM) to check parts for compliance with engineering specifications.• Knowledge of cutting tools, machining speeds, and feeds for variety of materials.• Working with our latest technology and therefore you are willing to learn about new software and hardware solutions.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.• Documenting actions by completing production and quality logs.• Setting up jobs by installing necessary tools and attachments to ensure the complete fabrication process that includes the post processing steps.• Toolpath optimization to improve setup and cycle times through process improvements.Required skills to have for the success of this role• 10+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, preferably in an R&D environment with experience collaborating directly with engineers and implementing on-the-fly modifications and/or re-works.• Associate degree in a relevant field, BS degree in relevant field is highly desired.• Able to read and follow technical drawings, including GD&T• Proficient in machine set up, programming, and operating CNC machining centers (e.g., mill and lathe).
