Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a marketing professional to manage the custom products associated with our electromechanical range of testing instruments. The Product Manager’s primary responsibility is to help drive growth and profitability of the business by strategically managing the high mix/low volume custom product offerings that range from automated solutions and specialized systems to fixtures and grips that are customized for specific application needs. In order to meet these objectives, the Product Manager must be able to determine when it is beneficial to develop a customized solution for a specific customer and help facilitate interaction/communication between the customer and engineering. This requires an exceptional understanding of our broad customer base, Instron’s standard product offerings, and an awareness of the market pricing within our industry.

Responsibilities include product support, training of a worldwide sales and service organization, development of marketing plans and collateral/web content, competitive analysis and guidance for strategic product planning.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have significant product management, sales, applications or custom product development engineering experience combined with a Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline. Advanced technical or business-related degree preferred. Prior knowledge of material testing systems or applications is preferred. Experience should include business plan development, leadership of product development in a concurrent engineering environment, VOC activities, promotions, website layout, sales training and support. Individuals must be highly motivated and able to demonstrate effective strategic planning abilities. The candidate must also be willing and able to travel (including internationally) an average of 30% of the time.
