The Senior Product Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining highly scalable SMART on FHIR and CDS Hooks apps using modern technologies. Senior Product Software Engineer activities also include working with the team in enhancing and improving existing Clinical Decision Support platform that allows interoperability between multiple disparate systems using APIs.

Job QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information System, or related field.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain clinical decision support specific web applications
  • Work closely with other team members and subject matter experts to come up with high quality solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and apply engineering best practices and standards
  • Lead technical discussions and analyze user requirements to derive technical software design and performance requirements
  • Design and develop software applications that are highly distributed and scalable
  • Designing and developing solutions with a focus on maintaining healthcare privacy & security at the highest level.
  • Ability to comprehend detailed project specifications as well as the ability to adapt to various technologies and simultaneously work on multiple projects
  • Remain current with evolving industry trends and technologies
  • Work in an Agile environment with regular team meetings, sprint planning and demos
Experience:
  • 6 years of experience in key software engineering roles, such as lead engineer or software architect, senior software engineer.
  • 4 years of strong Java, Node.js, microservices and cloud-based development (preferably AWS) experience
  • 2 years of experience with HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, CDS Hooks and OAuth2.
  • Experience with development of APIs and microservices
  • Experience with Docker containerization
  • Healthcare IT/EHR Integration experience
  • Experience with common DevOps and software pipeline tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, Confluence and Jira
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM)
  • Familiarity with Clinical Quality Language (CQL)
  • Relational Database (PostgreSQL) experience
