DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps seeks an inspired candidate to join our 7-month program, which focuses on empowerment, creativity and education!

The role that is currently available will be serving at the Opportunity Academy in Holyoke, building relationships, supporting academic learning and social/emotional/personal well-being. Opportunity Academy serves learners who need an alternative path to high school success.

Here are some of the key responsibilities of the role:

+Support learners to increase their academic knowledge and skills through direct instruction

+ Support learners on work-place learning experiences including job-shadows, internships, workplace site visits, job applications, resume development, mock-interviews, and more

+Support learners to set and achieve individual goals including helping them overcome obstacles that interfere with their success

+ Learn our electronic curriculum/learning platforms and assist learners with them

+ Support teachers in classrooms working with individuals and small groups

+ Support teachers in creating and combining curriculum using the Learning Management System Schoology

+ Collect data capturing learning outcomes, create data reports, present data to OA Success Center team

The DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps Program (DSAP) has three core elements:

On-site youth work at a local school or nonprofit.

Team service project in collaboration with youth and community.

Weekly training and reflection to build youth work skills and increase knowledge of different learning styles, social justice issues, arts integration, motivational interviewing, asset-based community development, group dynamics and facilitation.

Earn a compensation package of up to $14,066, including personal/sick days. Package includes a Stipend of up to $9,800 and Education Award of up to $4,266. The Education Award can be used to pay for pre-existing student loans or future education costs.
