TITLE: Pillow Store and Retail Manager

STATUS: Full-Time Salary: Seasonal May 15 “ August 31

REPORTS TO: Deputy Director

DEPARTMENT: Patron Services

WORKS WITH: Marketing, Business Office, and Development; and supervises part-time sales associates and volunteers (3-4 people)

Jacobs Pillow seeks a Manager for its retail and on-line store operations to join its growing Patron Services Department and work closely with/report directly to the Deputy Director. This position is responsible for coordinating all retail activity during the Festival, and reporting on sales and inventory. The Store Manager works closely with the Marketing Department, Patron Services Manager and team, and Business Office to develop merchandise and monitor systems for fulfillment and patron satisfaction.

Jacobs Pillow, a National Historic Landmark and recipient of the National Medal of Arts, is a year-round center for dance and home to America's longest-running international dance festival located in the beautiful Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. The Pillow encompasses the world-renowned international Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, presenting more than 50 dance companies and over 350 events each summer; The School at Jacobs Pillow, one of the most prestigious professional dance training centers in the U.S.; the Pillow Lab, a residency program that supports new choreography; growing Community Engagement programs that serve local school children, artists, and community members alike; rare and extensive dance Archives, open to the public and available online at danceinteractive.jacobspillow.org, which chronicle more than a century of dance through photographs, videos of performances and talks with artists, costumes, and scholarly essays; and Apprenticeships, a Fellows Program, and an Internship Program that provide professional advancement and training opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination and supervision of retail activity, to include display and signage of merchandise, and online offerings, as well as time in store, responding to customers.

Assist as needed with the purchase of inventory.

Training and scheduling of paid retail staff.

Supervising and training of minimal volunteer retail staff.

Monitoring and reporting of financial activity and inventory control. This includes daily deposit reports and periodic inventory reports.

Maintenance of Store accounts for Staff and select members.

Development of periodic and final reports including Master Inventory.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree or equivalent

Previous retail management and/or customer service experience

Database and point of sale systems experience, preferred

Inventory management desired

Facility with numbers, spreadsheets and reporting

Ability to work collaboratively and under pressure

Interest in dance and the arts

Ability to lift 25 lbs and climb stairs to access facilities, including storage, unassisted and repeatedly throughout workday.

Salary is commensurate with experience and in keeping with a not-for-profit pay scale.
