Handyman needed for a property management company servicing the Pioneer Valley. Vertex Real Estate is small, growing, residential, third party property management company overseeing a variety of rental properties centered in Amherst, Massachusetts. We have a variety of houses, multi-unit buildings, rental condos, and small complexes. Most of our properties are in Amherst, Sunderland, Hadley, and a few in Northampton. We are looking for someone who is located reasonably close to this area, with a short enough commute to justify driving out to smaller jobs.
Our tenants call us year-round for a wide variety of small repairs. In the summer, we have a lot of turn-overs, and so we need extra help then. Our peak busy times are: mid-May to early July, and mid-August to early October. We do have work orders every single day of the year. So for the right person, this can be a part time job. Even if you could only help out here and there, or just seasonally, we may still be interested. After-hours on-call work is not a requirement, but the more you are available around the clock and around the calendar, the better.
The work spans all the different areas of the trades: minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry repairs, trouble-shooting heating systems, appliance repair, pest/rodent poison, interior painting, fixing issues with doors, windows, blinds, screens, smoke and CO detectors, roof leaks, flooding basements. If there are certain kinds of work that you can't or won't do, we will work around the limitations. Pay and number of hours vary based on your skills and availability. $15 to $27.50 per hour. Can be paid in real time when you do jobs, or a regular recurring payment, such as biweekly with our regular payroll, based on hours worked. We are generally looking to hire people as contractors, rather than employees. Up to 30 hrs per week, even in the off-season available for a motivated person. Unlimited work is available in the busy seasons in late spring (5/20 - 7/1) and late summer (8/20 - 10/1).
