Mechanical Engineer - Mechanisms

We can ONLY consider your application if you have:

1: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering 2: 6+ years of relevant experience (4 with graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering)

3: Experience in design or development of aerospace precision mechanisms and mechatronic systems. 4: Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as Inventor, and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.5: Knowledge and experience with broad project management of complex projects or processes with general oversight, from concept development through procurement and design qualification.

6: Mechanical requirements management experience including work with requirements flow downs to specifications and interface definition and compliance verification7: Ability to oversee suppliers, including technical oversight and mechanical ICD/specification development8: Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for internal and external presentations and reviews. 9: Able to lead small to mid-sized cross-functional design teams for space-based mechanical structures and mechanisms, or mechanical ground support equipment

We are looking for an outstanding Mechanical Engineer to design and develop space-based structures, mechanisms, and/or mechanical support equipment often with interfaces to precision optomechanical systems for spacecraft payloads. -Responsibilities include completing mechanical performance, manufacturing, and reliability assessments, mechanical architecture definition, and technical specification and interface control drawing development with supporting trade studies. -Trade studies include consideration for feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Technical activities include documentation of recommendations for presentation, review, and approval. Activities also include developing design concepts, supporting drawing creation, assigning and evaluating tolerances, and driving drawing releases. -Job duties may include leading small cross-functional teams of engineers and designers in accomplishing the above assignments. Responsibilities may include investigating solutions to product or process problems.

DESIRED (not required) SKILLS::: Secret clearance or higher:: Experience in an aerospace and/or optics environment:: Experience in additive manufacturing, part optimization and design for manufacture and assembly:: Experience with actuators, custom gear trains, electro-optical systems, materials testing, and manufacturing and test processes :: Experience with bearing selection and analysis, flexures, motor selection, feedback control sensors, torque margin, material selection, cable/wire management in a space environment, launch locks, & AIAA S-114A-2020/NASA-STD-5017A; experience with feedback control and motor electronics:: Strong analytical skills with emphasis on using and/or directing finite element analysis (FEA)
