Skills / Qualifications

3.1 Welding Certification. AWS certified. Knowledge of ANSI/AWS D14.1 Standards. Proficient at MIG/TIG welding. Familiarity with the use of jigs & fixtures. Ability to read engineering drawings. Knowledge of safety procedures. Physical dexterity, organization and visual acuity. Lift up to 75 pounds.

1.0 Job Purpose

1.1 Joining of steel, structural steels, and stainless steel components in accordance with ANSI/AWS specifications using various welding equipment and procedures. Producing welds designated on drawings by appropriate welding symbols.

2.0 Job Duties

2.1 Welding structural steel and stainless steel in various directions: flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead, etc., using shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipment.

2.2 Pre-Assemble/Fit welded, fabricated and purchased components to assure welded parts are within specifications before moving to subsequent production station.

2.3 Prepare and set up necessary tools, jigs, and equipment for welding.

2.4 Set-up and adjust MIG and TIG welding equipment to produce desired principal structural welds, primary welds and secondary welds per drawing requirements.

2.5 Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product.

2.6 Operating other accessory equipment such as cutting saws, drill presses, sand-blasting, and vertical sander. Performing some tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other types of welding arcs.

2.7 Control the processes of fitting, burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheat, distortion, expansion or shrink of parts.

2.8 Supplying quality parts & assemblies from jigs & fixtures.

2.9 Examining finished products and parts and verifying that specifications are met.

2.10 Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
