Our Father's House homeless shelter is hiring part time direct care staff!

Why? Because, while we realize this isn't the job for everyone, we do take a lot of chances on people.
Now, please don't apply if you oversleep, have no alarm clock, have court often, have no babysitter every day, have to give friends rides to work later than we start work, experience flat tires every week, have to hold on to a cell phone all day, or become an expert at your job with no need to learn or take advice after the first day.
Must be able to talk and work at the same time. Must remember to come back to work after lunch. Should not expect to receive gold stars for being on time.

What/Who is Our Father's House?
Our Father's House is a private, non-sectarian agency providing shelter and related services to homeless men, women and children. Rooted in Judeo Christian values - which means that every man, woman and child is created equal and should be treated that way - we emphasize the dignity of the individual, and through our programs encourage and assist each guest to become self-sufficient.
We are working on permanent solutions to homelessness by providing a progression of emergency shelter and support when needed; transitional and permanent housing when possible and practical; and individual support and guidance to encourage and assist our clients in becoming self-sufficient.
We offer a comprehensive set of services aimed at getting people off the street where they can be safe and then we work closely with them and service providers to help them become self-sufficient.
We are currently looking to fill a few of our Direct Care positions on all shifts: 4 p.m. - midnight (there are 3 staff on this shift); midnight - 8 a.m. (there are 2 staff on this awake shift); and Sunday 8a.m. - 4 p.m. (there are 2 staff on this shift) Part time hours would be from 8 to 24 per week.
We are not open Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., so please don't respond that you are available those hours.
As a direct care staff, your duties include, but aren't limited to, recordkeeping, intakes, answering phones, screenings, light housekeeping, drug testing, safety and security of facility, monitoring of "self-administration" of daily medication, dinner and breakfast preparation, etc. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
You need to at least have a high school diploma/GED to apply. If you have some experience in human services field and knowledge of substance abuse services and residential support that would be great, but not a requirement. You must be able to pass a standard criminal background check.
