Responsibilities: Research and create new ADAS, Connected and Automated Vehicle(CAV) applications with POC and rapid prototype. Are you ready to carry out research agenda for automotive HMI for CAV? Do you have applied knowledge in developing automotive systems from Human Centered Design perspective?This position requires collaboration with ADAS and CAV research te­­­am, successful candidates must possess the knowledge in Human Factor elements on Automotive HMI design.What you will do:
  • Carry out ADAS and CAV feature(s) into user clinics to solicit driver/rider benefits.
  • Identify key human factors research questions and issues from performance and safety perspectives.
  • Conduct experimental design and statistical analysis through user clinic(s) or survey(s).
  • Analysis of driver situation awareness from measuring interactions and perceptions.
  • Create and deploy Automotive HMI on test vehicles. HMI includes all modalities (visual, auditory, or haptic).
  • Retrofit test vehicles with new technologies, electrical wiring, mechanical installation, and software control.
  • Participate with ADAS team on test track for application tuning and debugging.
  • Participate in brainstorming activities to identify research areas and prototype opportunities.
  • Participate in academia research to shape research output that meets Honda interest(s).

Requirements:
  • Masters’ degree in Engineering, Information Science, Industrial Engineering or Psychology.
  • Have completed minimum of 2 cycles with experimental design and analysis of user clinics or user testing (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed)

AND
  • Minimum 12-month experience in HCI (Human Computer Interaction) methods. (Coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed).
  • Minimum 12-month experience in software development (C/C, C#, other OO languages. (Coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed).
Preferred
  • Ph.D. Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Science or Psychology, or Dual degree in Software Engineering with Psychology or Human Factors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong teammate with record of collaboration.
  • Extremely strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and self-motivation/ability to work independently
