Role Summary: The Enterprise Architect Technologies plays a key role in building a holistic view, implementation roadmap and capabilities definition for key systems within the organization. The role provides technology lifecycle and enterprise technology planning support and major program technology steering for new and existing applications. Defines and designs new capabilities and updates to existing capabilities to insure compliance to security and data policies while supporting efficient operations and development lifecycle processes.

Role Responsibilities:

Enterprise Architecture Management (70%)
  • Define the strategic application technology direction for VWoA/VWC and align to VWAG/region standards
  • Communicate application technology strategy to business, region, group and suppliers
  • Set application architecture direction
  • Maintain and enhance the SEP systems development methodology
  • Define application-related policies, standards, patterns and guidelines
  • Support definition of IT sourcing strategies
  • Monitor technology trends with an emphasis on application technology Analyzing IT industry and market trends to determine their impact on the enterprise
  • Consulting on application and infrastructure development projects to fit them to the architecture, as well as determining when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to accommodate project needs
  • Support governance of technology compliance
  • Supports the documentation processes for the complex information technology environment within and provides these documents to projects and operational areas
  • Sets work priority based on business objectives
  • Maintains and advances an application technology strategy on behalf of VWoA
Technology Management (30%)
  • Support Technology Lifecycle decisions
  • Develops Enterprise Solution and capabilities Strategies
  • Creates project proposals for enterprise capabilities and presents to Local IT Management

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years IT experience mainly in the area of System Design, Enterprise Architecture with focus on emerging Cloud technologies. Automotive and business processes experience preferred.

Education - Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering

Education - Desired:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering

Specialized Skills:

Required:
  • Excellence in service based systems analysis and design
  • Experience technically mentoring and/or leading other engineers.
  • Passionate and innovative with a track record of disruptive and progressive change
  • Understanding of Spring Integration and/or lightweight ESB protocol
  • Proven ability to develop architectures that incorporate high availability, operations supportability and scalability
  • Expert level experience in TDD/BDD, including best practices for exploiting automated test frameworks
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Deployment/Delivery practices, tools and process
  • Understanding of modern Cloud architectures and virtualization concerns is essential
  • Strong understanding of when/where/how to practically implement design patterns.
  • Ability to rapidly research and evaluate new technologies
  • Verbal and written communication must be clear, concise, and well-articulated
  • Language skills in English
    • Project Management Certification, PMP
  • Ability to quickly assess and reduce complex issues into small manageable tasks
  • Ability to work well under pressure with multiple tasks and still deliver on-time results

Desired:
  • ITIL Certification
  • PMP Certification
  • Open Source Experience with Docker, MongoDB, Cassandra, Jira, Micro services, Javascript
  • Leadership of Small Teams
  • Capable of representing the Connected Services team with executive management and with external IoT industries.
  • Fluent in German

Work Flexibility:
  • Domestic and International travel up to 5%. Must be willing and able to work after-hours.
