- Provides vehicle development and design direction through interpretation of federal and state regulations, and develops comments on proposed rules, notices, and requests for comment if accessory parts are impacted.
- Serves as Audi oA representative to industry committees, governmental agencies, Audi AG, and other internal and external entities accessory parts related matters. Represents Audi persuasively in external meetings and forums such as: NHTSA; Transport Canada; State regulatory authorities; trade associations; SAE/ISO; etc.).
- Represents the Audi oA as Compliance Consultant during NHTSA and Transport Canada audits.
- Summarizes and analyzes the implications of Federal Register safety regulation proposals, rules, and information notices for distribution and prepares comments or petitions as needed.
- Recommends appropriate action to comply with regulatory requirements, as well as to position Audi favorably in relation to government agencies and industry competitors.
- Actively participates in the development of SAE standards and Recommended Practices related to key areas that might impact the design of accessories.
- Supports and advises other Audi oA departments with respect to reviewing and providing direction on product installation instructions, owner's manual information, product warnings, website content, advertising, customer concern inquiries, and critical field issue resolution.
- Provides in-depth analysis in order to identify potential product liability risks and inform the development team of identified concerns and provide potential countermeasures.
- Provides guidance to Audi AG and Audi oA accessories development departments to support validation testing including test recommendations, onside test support/facilitation, test report review from testing conducted in Germany or in the US. Review of testing to ensure requirements are comparable (e.g. FMVSS to CMVSS to ECE) to testing conducted by Government Agencies and Consumer Protection Organizations
- Interact/interface closely with Audi AG accessory development, AoA accessory planning/sales, and the VWGoA legal departments.
- 7-9 years of experience; specifically related to field of expertise
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Automotive Systems Engineering related field - required
- Master's Degree in Mechanical/Automotive Systems Engineering related field - desired
