The SAP Parts SME is responsible for acting as a subject matter expert in overall SAP application technology capabilities to support the planning, design and implementation of initiatives in the Parts business domain. The role will act as a senior technical expert to support the management and transformation of the overall SAP landscape in alignment with the overall VWGoA enterprise standards and technology roadmap. This role will collaborate with the Parts business domain in identifying opportunities for process improvement and technology innovation in order to solve business needs. The role will represent VWGoA as a technical liaison to support overall IT change initiatives interacting with both external and internal development and consulting teams. The role may lead medium - large size initiatives in support of the overall strategic roadmap. This role also manages the alignment of ongoing maintenance and future implementations to ensure the proper alignment and execution within the Parts Logistics departments and Germany.

Role Responsibilities SAP Technology and Innovation - 30%
  • Provide technical and business domain knowledge input in the support of product roadmap and strategy definitions with NAR and Germany
  • Act as the SME to the business to translate business need into to technology solutions.
  • Provide the business technical and operational guidance to support the scoping and planning of initiatives in the Parts Logistics domain
SAP Implementation - 60%
  • Support in the technical design of solutions impacting the SAP landscape
  • Support the development team to develop, configure and implement the solution as per the product development standards to meet business requirements
  • Support NAR regional activities acting as a technical SME (US, MX, Canada)
  • Support development team with resolution of roadblocks and interdependencies
  • Provide design guidance to development teams
  • Monitor the work of the technical team to ensure a successful handoff between development and AMS
  • Lead medium - large size technical change projects in support of the overall SAP roadmap
SAP Support - 10% Act as a SME as needed to the SAP operations and AMS teams in order to quickly resolve operational issues that impact business functions.

Qualifications (Skills & Experiences & Education)

Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum years of relevant experience needed to perform the job
  • 7-10 years of overall experience supporting (solution, develop, support) the implementation of IT initiatives leveraging SAP technologies with an emphasis in the Parts domain
  • 5+ years leading strategic SAP implementation initiatives
  • 5+ years consulting businesses on the creation of strategic roadmaps leveraging existing and emerging SAP technologies

Education Required Desired
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science
  • Master's degree in related field

  • Strong communication skills including the ability to translate business need to technical teams, as well as translate technical solutions to business teams
  • Ability to communicate up to senior leadership as well as across to internal and external cross functional teams both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to lead small to medium cross-functional teams to successfully implement solutions utilizing SAP technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to identify opportunities for improvement and corresponding solutions

Specialized Skills: Knowledge or certifications unique to this role Required
  • Broad knowledge of SAP technologies both existing and emerging
  • Strong experience in SAP "Purchase to Pay" and SAP Logistics Supply chain modules.
  • Strong experience in leading SAP technical and Interface development including EDI integration
  • In depth understanding of SAP HW architecture including SAP HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Understanding of the Parts business process domain in order to identify business needs and translate them into an technology solutions
  • Support the Enterprise Architecture function in the building of a Parts technology roadmap leveraging standard technologies or introducing emerging technologies (emphasis on SAP related technologies and patterns)
  • Understanding of emerging SAP technologies and how those technologies can be leveraged to fill a capability gap within the Parts business domain
