Role Summary:

The Senior Manager, SAP Practice leads and executives a multi-year strategy for SAP technologies used throughout the National Sales Companies. This role requires a hands on knowledge of SAP technologies combined with the ability to envision and articulate a 5-10 vision for the SAP area. This role manages the lifecycle of the current SAP investments is also responsible for key SAP solution implementations.

Role Responsibilities: In this role, the Senior Manager, SAP Practice acts at the key technical go to person for the SAP tool offerings, sets and communicates a strategy plan for SAP investments for NSC functions, gains consensus amongst regional constituents and oversees the portfolio of SAP solutions for the NAR region for NSC processes. This role engages as the key IT touchpoint with the SAP vendor (aligned with purchasing) to ensure appropriate oversight of vendor engagement and ensure the appropriate vendor products and solutions are selected (to make the best use of VW investments). Through the development of a best practice concept, synergies and appropriate functional/technical approaches will be defined and reused. This role handles both direct implementation of large scale SAP implementations as well as providing guidance and direction to NAR IT partners on SAP implementations. The role aligns on behalf of the NAR with global partners in Germany on SAP strategy and direction.
  • General Roles and Responsibilities - 15%
    • Maintain a profound understanding of business strategies and processes, and their associated applications
    • Insure compliance to project management standards
    • Develop and maintain high performing resources for use across projects
    • Insure quality project performance (on-time, within budget and scope)
    • Manage Budgets
    • Comply with department budgets as required (mobile phone, travel, etc.)
    • Develop and manage project budgets within respective portfolio
    • Insure compliance to established funding and applicable policies
Vendor and Global Partner Management - 20%
    • Establishes relationship with SAP account management
    • Establishes relationship with SAP counterparts in Germany
IT Planning and Direction Setting for SAP - 20%
    • Collaborate with NAR partners develop strategic plans and encourage innovation related to SAP initiatives
    • Maintain up to date SAP knowledge and industry perspective
    • Formulates the IT Master Portfolio SAP implementation across the region
    • Provides direction and a center of competency for technical implementation strategies including security considerations
    • Brings technical thought leadership and industry perspective to the table to support effective and efficient use of SAP
    • Supports discussions on SAP solutions with senior business leadership
    • Identifies and brings synergies to bear across the region regarding SAP solutions
Program and Project Management 45%
    • Direct oversight of large scale SAP implementations
    • Align on key IT objectives for SAP implementations and confirm overall program expectations with key executives.
    • Analyzes business scenarios and strategies, develop internal proposals and plans, obtains executive approvals and communicates organizational direction.
    • Develops initial detailed cost and schedule for setting up project/program
    • Works with functional organizations to evaluate the impact of proposed business process changes.
    • Identifies the key decision makers, stakeholders and their expectations and interests.
    • Tracks contribution of each project to the consolidated budget, schedule and benefits.
    • Manages risks and issues needing resolution at the project/program level.
    • Applies sound business judgment to overcome program difficulties with schedule, cost and quality.

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:
  • 10+ years' experience with SAP solutions (Sales & Distribution, Material Management, Warehouse Management, Finance)
  • 10+ years of experience in Project Management
  • 10+ years' experience in leading SAP Projects/Programs
  • 8-10 years business experience working with senior business and IT executives
  • 5 -7 years of supervisory experience
  • 5 -7 years of developing Enterprise SAP strategy
  • 3-5 years' experience with Logistics Business (OEM Parts Logistics is a plus)

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems - required
  • Master's degree - desired
  • SAP Certifications or training - desired
