Role Summary: A Delivery Lead plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of multiple projects, or a single large project, to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Has overall responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating activities for application/system development / integration / implementation related projects. Ensures that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives. Is responsible for managing the team that designs, develops, integrates, tests, and implements application related projects. Monitors project activities; ensuring the currency, quality, and integrity of the information; and providing consistency in content look and feel across the organization. The individual will be responsible to ensure that project results meet customer expectations and adhere to internal standards and strategies. A Delivery Lead may perform numerous roles in actual practice, blending more traditional project management and scrum master skills to achieve high quality results.

Role Responsibilities: Project Management - 55%
  • Management of full technology development lifecycle in a disciplined iterative project delivery model following applicable VWGpA SDLC practices (IT-PEP), guidelines, and procedures including:
    • Scope management
    • Schedule Management
    • Budget Management
    • Change Management and Impact Analysis
    • Communications Management
    • Risk and Issue Management
    • Vendor Delivery Management
    • Procurement Management (provide support to Procurement Management team to fulfill deliverables)
  • Manage vendor and cross-functional team dependencies for product development and integrations to meet initiative objectives
  • Maintain project and/or program tracking and work breakdown structures (MS Project)
  • Understand, advocate and communicate business unit objectives, goals, vision and strategy to team to enable application/technology solutions that contribute towards achieving value
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate conflict and problems with project, product and team resources and apply escalation appropriately
  • Environment/Project coordination (balancing multiple project delivery dates with environment constraints)
  • Ensure that application processes (including those of external service providers) are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies and applicable standards.
  • Manage development initiatives with major vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization in a socially and compliant manner.
  • Support action plans where necessary to improve Business Unit satisfaction levels.
  • Provide inputs to scheduled progress reporting which includes comparing forecasts to actuals (budgets, schedules, scope, etc)
  • Support Resource Manager in recruiting which includes interviewing, hiring and onboarding
  • Ensure all approvals are captured as required through the development lifecycle
  • Coordinate application production support for defined products
Scrum Master - 30%
  • Ensures a minimum a two sprints worth of user stories are ready in the team backlog
  • Sprint planning and tracking
    • Agile tracking tools (i.e. JIRA)
    • Manage story progression in lifecycle (wall status within a sprint)
    • Burn-down
    • Velocity
    • Capacity planning
    • Release planning
  • Facilitate the daily standup meetings
  • Facilitate the sprint planning meetings
  • Facilitate the sprint demo reviews
  • Facilitate sprint retrospectives
  • Accountable and responsible that the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
  • Identify and remove impediments, prevents distractions, reduce/prevent interruptions (protect the delivery team)
Communications and General Management - 15%
  • Foster an environment of cooperation and collaboration between all teams involved
  • Coach, mentor, develop and lead best-in-class teams capable of delivering excellent results through agile iterative development methodologies to solving complex technical and business challenges.
  • Report to senior executives on the progress of individual projects and the overall program.
  • Establish PM best practices and ensure all PMs within the assigned portfolio are adhering to those practices
  • Facilitate escalations on assigned projects between business and IT
  • Help to define strategic goals and support the enterprise PMO activities
  • Interact with various stakeholders (Steering Committee, project members etc.) the status of running initiatives and identify necessary risks, changes and other obligations
  • Assist in vendor performance and relationship management

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:
  • 7 - 10 years or relevant experience in technical project management, preferably in an automotive or high-tech environment.
    • 7+ years of experience leading high performing multi-function teams in application development, integration, and implementation.
    • 5+ years of experience in Scrum Master Role managing multiple teams concurrently.
    • 5+ years of technical experience in software / application development.
  • 3+ years of vendor management experience, leveraging vendors to help in delivery of applications / solutions that meet the needs of the business

Education - Required:
  • B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, equivalent work experience

Education - Desired:
  • MBA or Masters in Science
  • PMP certification or equivalent
  • Scrum and/or SAFe agile certification

Skills:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience of project management supporting waterfall, iterative, and agile models for delivering applications / solutions utilizing the full systems development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated capability to work on several projects simultaneously with cross functional team's / resources and thrive in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate, express complex technical concepts in business terms, and persuade at all management levels.
  • Excellent human resource management skills.
  • Leadership skills that can energize multi-discipline work teams to respond to business needs.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing large scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors.

  • Technical knowledge with hands-on experience in application development and managing systems development/integration/implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities: Able to break down major issues and problems into workable pieces; sees the whole situation behind a problem or issue; able to understand causes, effects and implications.
  • MS Project (scheduling and tracking - resource effort level) and MS Office tools.
  • Strong Financial Management skills: Cost accounting, forecasting and budgeting capabilities with demonstrated assembling of comprehensive software development estimates, budgets and schedules
  • Servant Leader whose focus is on the needs of the team members and those they serve (the customer), with the goal of achieving results in line with the organization's values, principles, and business objectives.
