Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, marketing, or project management or equivalent experience
  • Experience in management, leadership, mentorship and/or administration
  • Experience on a software delivery team or relevant experience
  • Experience working on a team that implements technology that meets architecture, design and integration standards
  • Extensive knowledge of different roles on the team(s) and the responsibilities of each (e.g., product owners, release train engineers, software engineers, architects and other leadership)
  • Ability to leverage business processes and systems, application/system workflows, user scenarios, and data needs for their team(s) product(s) domain to partner with others on driving the vision
  • Experience mentoring in complex scenarios and during all software development life cycle phases
  • Understanding of Agile metrics and how to best leverage them to guide the team to become self-organizing
  • Experience coordinating tech incident resolutions
  • Experience with relational databases and dimensional modeling
  • Experience with unstructured big data
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using work-item tracking tools such as Azure DevOps (TFS), Jira, etc.
  • Experience programming in SQL, Python, SPARK, C# or similar object oriented/functional programming languages
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS (API Gateways, S3, Lambda etc.)
  • Experience in software testing and design
  • Certified SAFe Scrum Master and/or SAFe POPM
  • Knowledge of supported business domains
Job SummaryThe Team Leader, Data Engineering is a servant leader whose primary goal is to build a team that is self-organizing and self-managing. As a team leader, this person is responsible for elevating team member performance and ensuring their team has what it needs to implement technologically superior products.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate and promote the culture and mission of the company and hold team members accountable to them
  • Conduct individual performance reviews on a quarterly basis
  • Lead and mentor their team to plan, design, build and deploy high quality software that meets or exceeds the technical standards of Rocket Technology
  • Work with their team members to create and accomplish goals that assist in their professional development
  • As team facilitator, apply Lean/Agile values and principles to an engineering team and challenge performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow and velocity
  • Address roadblocks as they arise and help the team focus on delivery while consistently achieving goals and objectives
  • Use metrics and work with business partners and senior leadership to identify talent needs
  • Engage in and communicate tech incidents to impacted stakeholders
  • Recognize trends spanning multiple tech incidents and work with the team to ensure the appropriate resolutions are found
  • Coordinate and communicate with other teams for work between business domains, products, teams and/or trains
  • Know why we?re implementing the technology product(s), its context, audience, what problem it will solve, and its technical capabilities/limitations
  • Make process improvement recommendations to both the technology software development life cycle as well as business processes based on knowledge and understanding of the team product domain
  • Contribute new best practices within the Rocket Technology leadership community
  • Strengthen and maintain key relationships?with leadership in supported business areas?
