Title: Business Data Migration Analyst

Location: Detroit, MI

Overview: Do you have a passion for data and analytics? Would you enjoy helping the migration team solve a variety of interesting, ever-changing problems? Can you write Oracle SQL code and conduct comparative analysis of data with little direction to locate data anomalies or differences? Are you experienced in developing test cases and manually executing them or developing an automation of the test execution process?

Experience You'll Bring: You possess a robust data analysis capability, and business intelligence background with strong, hands-on problem-solving experiences. You are comfortable learning new technologies and systems, gaining or possessing business acumen, and being a subject matter expert. You have a great work ethic, deliver results on multiple areas or projects with an attention to detail by working with internal and external partners, and can innovate with a customer-service mindset. You will deliver test results, develop reporting and analytical solutions to ascertain accuracy of the migrated and/or merged data. The Auto Advantage Business Data Migration Analyst plays a pivotal role in the Advantage strategic program which is modernizing our key Information Technology systems and building the foundation that drives business transformation, while maintaining the integrity of our data. The Analyst will drive through the data management needs of migration and data merge activities to ascertain the source data is transferred correctly, properly tested and accurately reflected in the target application and the original data in the target application remains unencumbered.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent Oracle SQL Developer skills is a must with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Writing and execution of test cases leveraging qTest is preferred.
  • Experience with migration of data from a legacy system to a HTML application with tables and User Interface (UI) is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Business Intelligence technologies such as Power BI.
  • Experience conducting data analysis and Financial Services or Banking working knowledge is desired.
  • Understanding of mainframe data conversions.
  • Is capable of quickly learning legacy systems and data, transformation of data and UI for each to maintain the current migration cycles to write tests, write SQL, execute tests, review results of migration cycles, write summary reports and present data results.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Works well with others with changing priorities; strong collaborative skills.
  • Excellence at test throughput and reporting.
  • Is able to participate in demonstrations of the migrated data after completion of UI validation.
  • Business analysis background, strong problem-solving ability, can apply general organizational knowledge of the business and systems processes to problem analysis.
  • Comfortable conducting end user training, giving clear direction, demonstrating teamwork and time management skills as well as Agile and modified waterfall methodologies.
  • Proven success working with business and IT stakeholders to support data transformation validation and migration success needs.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Write SQL code in Oracle to complete comparative analysis of data from source to target to identify data integrity or conversion issues.
  • Analyze current-state solutions, primarily SQL and UI review of the legacy system and target application data to recommend target-state, remediation solutions.
  • Deliver support of the converted and merged date to enable customers to self-serve.
  • Become a subject matter expert by combining technical knowledge and business acumen, to creatively share the completion of the migration cycles and current status of the data. Explain the results with every day terms rather than technical terms.
  • Deliver quantity and quality results within established timeline; leverage developed SQL reporting to complete comparative analysis between the source and target data in the migration space.
  • Produce test cases; and execute tests within planned schedules (currently monthly, but cycles may increase) for the program deliverables; research test results when defects/bugs are found to help pinpoint root cause of data differences.
  • Develop and test data, complete data analysis, reporting, and analytics solutions, often ad hoc to ascertain the data meets business stakeholder requirements.
  • Work with IT mainframe team to complete data validation / conversion of source data.
  • Navigate through research of source data fields and profiling to provide recommendations for data governance updates.
  • Research and develop various data clean-up strategies, data mapping documents, data migration documentation to support the movement of data for governance and controls.
  • Enhance Power BI reporting to support the migration data validation results.
  • Develop reporting to support merge of migrated data in multiple phases and review/analyze the data the migrated data will be merged into to provide evidence of successful migrations.

Desired Skills

  • Develop automated test cases, reporting and uploads to qTest.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support deployment and operation resource activities once we return to the office.
