Mainframe Developer

Please note that this is a 6 months contract position.Individuals should be onshore and ideally close to Grand Rapids Or willing to relocate depending on how the office opening for the client goes. • Experience in the Casualty/Property Insurance industry with policy processing and back office systems;• Experience in writing high level detailed solution and design specifications to assist programmers in developing new programs.• Experience in both mainframe and distributed applications.• Must be detailed oriented and an analytical thinker.• Must be proficient in communicating with technical development teams as well as executive level.• Must be a self-starter and quality driven.• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills• Technical knowledge: Cobol, DB2, SQL, XML, , Web Services, API, ETL processes, Easytrieve, JCL• Preferred knowledge: Data Studio, SOAP, WSDL, Java,• Responsibilities: Work in an Agile Environment to design, developmento Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applicationso Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable codeo Integrate data storage solutions {{may include databases, key-value stores, blob stores, etc.}}o Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applicationso Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to mitigate and address these issueso Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatizationApplicants must provide their phone number.
