NPosition Type ManagementThe Director, Director, Development, US & Canada works with the Vice President, Development & Account Management, US & Canada by Homes and Villas Marriott International (HVMI) to help build and execute the HVMI business by identifying, vetting, and performing due diligence on professional Home Management Companies (HMCs) for HVMI to add new homes to our platform . The role will oversee a team of Business Development managers who focus on various territories in US and Canada. In addition to leading the team of business developers, the role will collaborate with the multidisciplinary teams to review, approve, and finalize contract materials with Home Management Companies (HMCs) and bring their homes live onto our platform. Success in the position demands a driving focus on onboarding and sustaining Home Management Companies for HVMI; leading to the creation of shareholder value and earnings, as well as passionate about championing new business opportunities in support of building brand equity and driving customer preference.CANDIDATE PROFILEEducation and Experience4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, or related major and 6+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance;MBA preferred

OR8+ years of relevant professional experience in marketing or related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance.

Experience managing and defining transformational strategies for business units.

Demonstrated ability to deliver results under difficult conditions, particularly when faced with complexity and ambiguity.

Expert project management and organizational skills with a service mindset.

Experience working in a start up environment.

Proven tracker record of solveing problems and getting to solutions quickly.

Experience working in a fast paced environment; and proven record of managing multiple priorities and stakeholders as well as excellent time management skills.

Experience making assumptions to get to hypotheses.

Willingness to travel up to 20% to evaluate property management companies, participate in industry leadership events, and evaluate market opportunities

CORE WORK ACTIVITIESThe Director of Development (HVMI) performs a central, critical role in identifying, vetting, onboarding and sustaining HVMI partners and owners for HVMI partnerships directly and through leading a team of developers. This role will engage in the sales process with the largest potential HMCs, build relationships with Connectivity Provider and leading a team of developers who work collaboratively across the HVMI discipline to bring new homes and supply onboard.Build Discipline InfrastructureCreate and manage processes for the continent team to manage growing portfolio.

Ensure continued communication and alignment with Marriott International’s brand team and continent discipline teams to leverage resources and implement relevant standards.

DevelopmentIdentify, initiate, and analyze potential partnerships and new markets.

Lead all aspects of the development process internal to Marriott International, including partner due diligence, market management and technical services representatives, requesting feasibility studies and pro forma valuations, and presenting the opportunity for approval by the appropriate Marriott committees.

Lead negotiations of partnership agreements with owner/owner's representatives.

Support the partnership with Marriott's Treasury and Project Finance Departments to maximize returns on Marriott International investment in the partnerships.

As required, attend public hearings and meetings with regulatory agency officials to ensure compliance with local regulations.

Share leads for other Marriott brand or product opportunities with appropriate personnel.

Account ManagementWhere relevant, support partnerships and operating norms with continent Ownership & Franchise services (OFS) representatives.

Establish relationships with key partners, once on-boarded to Marriott.

Manage all aspects of the account partnerships including HVMIs standards and marketing goals are designed to succeed.

Conduct periodic account reviews.

Perform other duties as appropriate.

Managing and Conducting Human Resources ActivitiesInterviews and hires employees.

Promotes the fair and equitable treatment of employees.

Facilitates regular, ongoing communication in department (e.g., staff meetings).

Fosters employee commitment to providing excellent service, participates in daily stand-up meetings and models desired service behaviors in all interactions with customer and employees.

Incorporates customer satisfaction as a component of staff/operations meetings with an emphasis on generating innovative ways to continually improve results.

Sets goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance review process and holds staff accountable for performance goals.

Solicits employee feedback.

Utilizes an “open door policy” and reviews employee satisfaction results to identify and address employee problems or concerns.

Promotes adherence to policies consistently, follows disciplinary procedures and documents items according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and supports the Peer Review Process.

Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.

Champions change ensures brand and regional business initiatives are implemented and communicates follow-up actions to team as necessary.

Identifies talents of direct reports and their teams and assists with their growth and development plans.
