Job Description

The Business Development Manager drive business development growth in the Transportation/Testing Services sector, primarily through organic growth activity. This role is roughly 50/50 split between commercial growth activities and technical principal responsibilities. Works closely with the Sr Director of Operations to refine the growth strategy and formulate a portfolio roadmap of preferred services. Provides traditional commercial support to develop organic growth where applicable.

  • Leads the Industrial Testing Services Lapeer Group initiatives in developing and implementing the growth roadmap
  • Develops a pipeline of suitable clients
  • Develops a pipeline of organic and service expansion opportunities
  • Significant commercial outreach into the areas of research, technology trends, technical committees, trade shows, and target prospecting, etc.
  • Produces presentations, spreadsheets, information memoranda, etc.
  • At all times, complies with the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Functions as laboratory principle
  • Responsible for project management of concrete admixture testing and R&D
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience in Science or Engineering that’s directly applicable to the Transportation/Testing Service sector. Business degrees are only advantageous in the absence of technical qualifications providing it’s combined with significant sector experience
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of broad base management / commercial experience in the Transportation/Testing Service space
