Our team is looking for a NOC Engineer with a strong understanding of the SolarWinds Orion platform. The NOC Engineer will work and collaborate with teams from across IT, including: Network, Telecom, Server Infrastructure, Data Services, AppDev & Business Architecture. Utilizing SolarWinds Orion & AppDynamics, the NOC Engineer provides application, network, & systems monitoring. They will also provide operational support of Enterprise applications here at UWM.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Evaluate the monitoring platform configuration & health with a focus on Solarwinds Orion & training NOC team members on best practice configuration
  • Monitor network & application health, respond to alarms and pro-actively communicate with clients to determine impact
  • Work cross functionally with other teams in Technology to assist with project implementations, from concept through maintenance
  • Assist IT Teams with customer test and turn-ups, and service troubleshooting

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Required:
    • 3+ years of experience designing, deploying, and optimizing the SolarWinds Orion platform
    • 3+ years of experience working in a NOC using monitoring tools like Nagios, New Relic, AppDynamics, ThousandEyes, PRTG
    • 3+ years of experience providing Network troubleshooting
    • Strong knowledge of Orion components (NPM, NCM, IPAM, SAM, SCM, NTA, NetPath, PerfStack, database) and setting up an APE or AWS
    • Experience writing PowerShell to interact with the Orion API
    • Experience creating user-friendly Orion Views and writing custom SWQL
    • On-site, full-time attendance; Participate in rotating on-call coverage or emergency response as needed
    • Computer-related degree or equivalent

    Preferred:
    • Experience with scripting and automation technologies (SQL, VBScript, Skybot)
    • Experience with Netflow monitoring tools (eg. Scrutinizer, NetFlow Analyzer)
    • Experience with SIEM products (eg. LogRhythm, Splunk)
