The Principal Engineer role combines the technical skills of an engineer with the organizational and motivation skills of a leader to provide technical direction to a team of administrators and engineers. The Principal Engineer will understand the technical aspects of their domain, connect projects to business initiatives, and drive their team forward to contribute to the success of the company.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING- Contributing to the creation and implementation of engineering vision, strategy, policies, and procedures to improve the performance of Security operations.
- Ensuring compliance to our policies and procedures by creating auditing strategies and conducting periodic evaluations of our technology.
- Providing technical advice on remediation efforts for any deficiencies discovered in our system health.
- Assisting with the execution of projects by combining industry best practices, business requirements and knowledge of the team's skillset into actionable solutions.
- Serving as a conduit for feedback and direction between engineers, leadership, project managers and other stakeholders to remove roadblocks and keep projects on target.
- Consistently promote high standards through personal example and ensure that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them
- Sharing expertise and insights with other engineers through both mentorship and creation of governance standards.
- 10+ years of experience in security engineering, architecture, or leadership roles
- Bachelor's Degree in science, engineering, or management, or equivalent experience.
- Expert knowledge of enterprise security solutions (e.g. threat detection, vulnerability scanning), identity and access management solutions, and best practices for website security.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Comfortable in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to multitask and adapt
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Experience mentoring other team members
- Availability after-hours to provide support when necessary
- CISSP Certification
- 2+ years of experience leading a team of security engineers and cybersecurity analysts
- Experience providing evidence of compliance with federal regulations (e.g. SOX)
- PowerPlatform (PowerApps, PowerBI, PowerAutomate) experience a plus
- Hands on experience with enterprise firewalls and load balancers
- Experience with scripting and query languages
