Mechanical Engineer

Softworld's large, well-known, defense contracting client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work in their Sterling Heights, MI location!

Job Description:

Conduct design, integration and analysis of mechanical components, mechanisms and shock attenuation systems for mounting devices. Mechanical Engineer to design, develop and release subsystem designs, component designs and mounting provisions for various devices. The mechanical engineer will design subsystems and components related to hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, mechanisms, shock isolation to meet vehicle performance requirements including human factors, safety, environmental and mine blast requirements.

Apply mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication principles for mechanical components and complex welded brackets, mounting provisions.

Support various projects by doing analysis & design, drawing mark-ups, tolerance stacks and generating source data for engineering changes. writing material requests and shop work requests, tracking delivery and stock of parts, participation in integration reviews, fit checks, and writing reports.

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years experience preferred.

Be a self starter and highly motived. Experience with managing cross functional projects, leading complex tasks and working in a shop environment is strongly desired.

Have working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, mechanisms, shock isolation, design for mine blast resilience.

Have understanding of how to design, integrate, and analyze mechanical components and mechanisms and shock attenuation systems for mounting devices.

Have understanding of mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication methods for mechanical components and complex welded structures.

Have a mechanical engineering degree including emphasis on mechanics of materials, hydraulics and fluid mechanics.

Have solid modeling experience with NX and Creo.

Have fluency with Teamcenter, Vis Mockup.
