MFG IT Project Management Role Summary: As a team member of OnStar IT, the Project Manager (PM) is responsible for leading Information Technology software development and implementing projects. This includes driving all phases of the project development cycle and managing the day to day operations of the project and scope. The PM will identify critical path decisions, make recommendations, and influence leadership for maximum return. The PM will also lead team collaboration to drive quality requirements, design, development, and enforce project standards. The role requires the elicitation of risks and issues with assigned projects, and enables leadership visibility to help resolve issues. Key Responsibilities: - Manages multiple medium-size IT projects or a large-scale IT Project from beginning to end. - Defines project scope, charter, goals and deliverables in support of business goals and works with senior leadership and stakeholders for approvals - Ensures that projects are completed on time and meet all business and system requirements. Conducts all project management tasks to ensure schedule, cost, and quality goals - Leverages the expertise of a Senior Project Manager and team to ensure project scope is well documented and managed properly throughout the delivery cycle of the project. - Develops project plans, schedule and work breakdown structure for projects - Communicates project status, progress on deliverables, and risks/issues to stakeholders and leadership in a timely manner - Discuss and prioritize project issues with the project team, and provide help/support to the project team as required. - Works with software estimation group to ensure project staffing and resource plan - Collaborates with cross-functional teams including architects, software engineers, developers and technical leads to ensure timely delivery of project - Interacts with supplier community and procures necessary infrastructure and tools in a timely manner - Identifies and resolves issues/conflicts within the project team - Maintains project tracking and provides status reports to senior leadership. - Ensures adherence to GM's system delivery process guidelines and provides early feedback to project teams to take proactive measures to resolve the issues. - Adheres to change management processes during the project lifecycle. - Ensures compliance with project deliverables, and project financial accounting. - Single point of contact for escalation of project issues/concerns. - Manage project financials and project portfolio. - Handle a variety of non-recurring special assignments. - Assist in developing solutions to unusual and difficult problems. - Develop and maintain policies and procedures in a specialized area. Required Skills: - Proven in-depth knowledge of project management disciplines (e.g. PMBOK, Schedule, Scope, Quality, HR, Communications etc.,) - Experience in managing projects leveraging different software development methodologies. - Strong skills in predictive analysis, specifically on software development/deployment projects. - Experience in measuring project success factors with respect to cost, schedule and quality, i.e. product requirements quality, test quality and code quality. - Practical experience with requirements and test case development - Strong experience interacting with business customers and managing expectations - Proven work experience working as a Project Manager with a successful project delivery record - Experience working in a multi-supplier environment. - Ability to work with Business interface teams and business leads to estimate cost and negotiate requirements to minimize project impact - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output. - High level of sound logic and analytical ability where problems are unusual and extremely difficult - Organizing - ability to marshal resources (people, funding, material, support) orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal, use resources effectively and efficiently. - Critical thinking - use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. - Planning - accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks. - Business Acumen - understand how business works; maintain awareness of how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace - High level understanding of the software development life cycle and various development methodologies (i.e. Waterfall and Agile) - Excellent organizational and planning skills - Adept and effective meeting facilitator - Action oriented and driven for results - Positive attitude Education and Training: - Completion of an accredited Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Information Technology bachelor's program, or higher - Demonstrate technical and professional skills in job-related area - PMP certification preferred- Familiarity with IT policies, standardized work and SDP is desirable 10+ Year's experience PMP or equivalent/ Bachelors NEEDS TO BE LOCAL IT PM experience other IT background/experience (BA, Dev, Test), Application Development MS Project
