Objective

The Minnesota Council of Nonprofits seeks a Northeast Minnesota Regional Coordinator to inform, promote, connect and strengthen individual nonprofits and the nonprofit sector. The Regional Coordinator will serve the Northeast Region including 7 counties in Minnesota: Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis. This part-time position, 20 hours weekly, offers a flexible work schedule and competitive salary and benefits package.

The Regional Coordinator must live within the 7-county Northeast Minnesota region and will maintain an office in Duluth.

Northeast Minnesota Regional Coordinator Functions and Tasks:

Serve as a liaison and ensure communications between MCN's St. Paul office and regional nonprofits.

Work with Membership and Communications Director to meet annual nonprofit member recruitment and retention targets for the region.

Work with Program Director to identify, plan, publicize and host professional training sessions, workshops, programs and networking activities that mirror MCN's overall calendar and also reflect local interests and needs.

Work with Development Manager to maintain relationships with regional funders and fulfill grant requirements.

Plan and host the Greater Minnesota Nonprofit Summit (on rotation); recruit sponsors, presenters and attendees.

Respond to local inquiries from members and nonmembers about MCN's products and services including member services, publications and MCN events.

Respond to local members' technical assistance needs and direct requests to other MCN staff when appropriate.

Recruit and facilitate an advisory committee comprised of local nonprofit staff to serve as a liaison to the local community.

Recruit and facilitate an advocacy network comprised of individuals who are interested and active in public policy locally, and share identified public policy issues with MCN policy staff.

Manage a regional office including maintaining organizational systems (lists of members, records of events, information needed for dissemination systems including mailings and emails), including updating and ensuring accuracy of information on members in database.

Produce professional nonprofit communications in the form of emails and letters regarding training workshops, networking events, public policy and member benefits.

Help create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all individuals in regards to diversity which may include geography, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, immigration status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, age, ability and religion.

Work within parameters of MCN's annual operating budget.

Represent MCN in a professional manner to members and visitors at all times.

Attend and assist with MCN annual conference, Greater Minnesota Summit and other events as needed.

Perform other job duties as assigned.

Experience:

B.A. Degree or equivalent experience;

3-5 years' experience with nonprofit organizations and community based groups;

Intimate knowledge of local nonprofit, government and community networks; existing relationships with key stakeholders in nonprofit and government;

Experience in meeting and event planning and communication systems;

Ability to mobilize and energize diverse groups of people and experience in community and grassroots organizing;

Strong computer skills are required including experience using databases and email;

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required;

Candidates must have the ability to travel throughout Northeast Minnesota with occasional periods of overnight travel and must have a valid driver's license, proof of personal automobile insurance, and ability to pass a driving background check.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Requires frequent use of a telephone, speaking in a clear and understandable manner.

Requires frequent participation in repetitive motion activities including typing on a computer keyboard.

Frequently requires the ability to work for several hours at a time at a desk and computer monitor.

Requires frequent verbal communication in the form of public speaking in front of groups, often for several hours at a time.

Requires regular regional travel, with occasional overnight stays required.

Occasional travel in the Twin Cities and other regions of Minnesota will also be required.

Additional Information:

Classification: Regular, Part-time (40 hours/week), Non-exempt

Compensation: $18.08 to $27.12 per hour (starting range of $18.08 to $22.60 per hour), depending on experience plus pro-rated benefits, which currently include health insurance, dental insurance, retirement plan, flex plan, long-term disability, life insurance, three weeks' vacation plus major holidays, sick and safe leave and personal days, and paid parental leave
