The Sr Business Unit Systems Analyst provides operational support for Assurant's Connected Living Policy Operations through analysis of processes, implementation of best practices, ongoing analysis for continuous improvement, and identification of new approaches and solutions. You will support project management and new client or program implementations to advance business objectives.

The Analyst is a specialized analyst who works with the business to break down their processes into specific steps; working on projects designed to improve quality, reduce errors, and design new processes. You will work with management, Information Technology, implementation teams, customers, and clients to gather and analyze information and make recommendations.

Business Unit Systems Analysts gather information by interviewing people who perform the business processes, customers, clients, and others involved in the process. They must be proficient in data gathering and analysis, creating worksheets, process workflows and diagrams. They also need excellent writing skills to produce documentation and presentations.

This role involves "thinking processes" in which to draw inferences from process details and link these inferences to the big picture by considering business objectives in identifying process improvements. The Sr Business Unit Systems Analyst will work closely with various operations and support teams to analyze every level of system process design and orientation within Connected Living. In addition, the Sr Business Unit Systems Analyst will work directly with our Information Technology Agile scrum teams to review User Stories (requirements) acceptance criteria.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Policy Operations and Project Intake Support (50%)
  • Stay abreast of new Connected Living policy related requests to understand the business need, communicate to appropriate business areas, and ensure it aligns with strategic goals.
  • Create Scope documents for operational change requests impacting Connected Living Policy Operations functions and responsibilities.
  • Play a key/lead role in identifying and engaging who in Connected Living Policy Operations is impacted by new requests or changes.
  • Work closely with Connected Living IT Agile scrum teams and other IT support teams to assist in defining, reviewing, and approving business requirements.
  • Create detailed process flows as needed for policy related functions including customer enrollment, cancellation, policy changes and product billing or refunds.
  • Ensure adherence to Connected Living Policy Operations intake standards and guidelines.
  • Prepare and present new client or program implementation overview to Connected Living Policy Operations team, with an emphasis on critical operations functions and accountabilities.
  • Assist with the establishment and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents, communication plans, and other team process assets.
  • Evaluate compliance against published policies and procedures; review internal control systems and frameworks to assess reliability and effectiveness; document specific compliance or regulatory change system requirements for both Connected Living Policy Operations and functional support teams.

Current and Future State Process Analysis (30%)
  • Identify trends and patterns to facilitate root cause analysis; communicate observations and recommend alternative solutions to management.
  • Conduct current state and future state analysis of internal control environments.
  • Work with the Connected Living Policy Operations team and other functional areas to design new processes and solve process related problems.

Strategic Planning and Process Improvements (20%)
  • Assist with the development of procedures, best practices, work instructions, internal process workflows and other process assets.
  • Work with liaisons from the business lines as required to encourage a culture that advocates process improvement.
  • Optimize workflow and process to maximize overall efficiency.

Basic Qualifications

BASIC SKILLS:

EDUCATION:
  • BA/BS Degree in related field or 3-5 years of equivalent experience.

BASIC EXPERIENCE:
  • 2-4 years of prior Business/Process Analyst experience.

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and process mapping skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Visio.
  • Must be decisive and results oriented with a high level of integrity and customer focus.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years of experience working in Policy Operations or similar capacity.
  • 1-2 years of experience working in an IT Agile environment.
  • Experience developing processing procedures and change controls.
