Optum is seeking a Senior Data Architect Analyst to be an integral part of our data platforms and technologies enhancement initiatives for our client health systems. As a Senior Data Architect Analyst, you will be responsible for advancing the architectural effectiveness of client data models and optimizing data movement using innovative solutions using various data platforms and technology. Working collaboratively with our analytics delivery and operations teams, you will help define and implement a cohesive data architecture strategy tied to our client's strategic direction, existing technologies, engineering processes, and best practices to support world-class analytics solutions for the entire healthcare delivery system.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead data architecture, data movement design, and data modelling initiatives to expanded and refine the content within the client data warehouse
  • Contribute to and advance data architecture strategy and adherence
  • Provide clarity and recommendations on tools, patterns, and directions that will accelerate or delivery
  • Document and communicate architectural vision, technical strategies, and trade-offs to gain broad buy-in
  • Reduce inefficiencies through rationalization and standards adherence
  • Creating and maintaining the conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data warehouse/data mart initiatives in the healthcare provider domain
  • Identifying, updating, and curating the data standardization and data quality rules
  • Leading and providing direction for data management, data profiling and source to target mapping
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting and data engineering processes
  • Build, optimize, and manage modern large-scale data pipelines ETL/ELT processing to support data integration for analytics
  • Provide guidance and support to the development and QA teams on triaging the remediating complex data scenarios identified during development/testing
  • Creating data migration strategies for both historical and incremental data on an ongoing basis
  • Research, analyze, recommend, and select technical approaches for solving difficult and challenging migration, development, and integration problems
  • Lead and contribute to data implementation projects and/or project independent workstreams
  • Create high complexity detailed technical design specifications and documentation
  • Work independently, but effectively partner with a broader team, to design and develop enterprise data solutions
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Ability to creatively take on new challenges and work outside comfort zone
  • Solid written and oral communications along with presentation and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to learn new technologies and analytics techniques while on the job

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing data models and data normalization to support analytics with solid knowledge of dimensional modeling concepts
  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing SQL query and ETL performance optimization
  • 3+ years of data modeling experience in healthcare data and related data domains
  • 3+ years of experience in data architecture

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in technology, analytics, information systems, data science or related field
  • Epic certifications with a focus on analytical capabilities
  • 2+ years of data engineering and data warehousing experience designing and building data warehouses, data marts, data lakes, ETL packages, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience in data profiling & data analysis in a data warehouse environment
  • 2+ years of experience in creating Source to Target Mappings and ETL design for integration of new/modified data streams into the data warehouse/data marts
  • 2+ years of experience working with Health Catalyst product offerings, including data warehousing solutions, knowledgebase, and analytics solutions
  • Working knowledge of key health management related areas, e.g. network management, population health, quality, compliance, provider engagement, etc.
  • Experience participating in cross-functional efforts, with proven success in creating analytics across many provider domains
  • Experience working with advanced analytical methodologies or algorithms
  • Experience working with a portfolio of analytical capabilities, tools, or products
  • General knowledge of the health care ecosystem, including understanding the relationship between payers and providers, and how analytics enables transformation
  • Solid ability to manage analytics initiatives with appropriate guidance
  • Ability to manage multiple client initiatives or projects concurrently
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts verbally and in writing

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary/hourly range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600.
