AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY The mental health coordinator II (MHC II) is responsible to coordinate a variety of services including but not limited to: individual finances, activities, program services, positive behavioral support needs, family involvement, education/vocational programs, health care/nutrition and household management. The mental health coordinator II (MHC II) is also responsible for staff scheduling. The MHC II is responsible to assist the supervisor in maintaining consistency in programming, individual care, and communication with staff and support team members. The MHC II is also responsible to carry out the responsibilities and duties of the behavioral support staff during all direct care shifts. The mental health coordinator II is a specific position assigned only to specific locations. The position and its corresponding wage is not transferable when working at other locations. This position is dependent on specialized funding of specific individuals served. If the person served transfers, is discharged or the funding is eliminated, the position and wage will be eliminated from the designated locations. Must have a high school diploma or GED Certificate, basic computer skills, and a minimum of three years experience in the delivery of behavioral health services. Three year’s experience in delivery of significant behavioral health services. Must be able to demonstrate de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, positive support methods and person centered approach with person served who may present significant mental health symptoms, physical and verbal aggression, property destruction, chemical dependence, brain injury and cognitive impairments. Need the ability to understand and implement behavior support plans, treatment plans, functional assessments, individualized support plans, and person centered plans. Must be physically fit and be able to stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift 50lbs is necessary. Must have counseling skills. Assess person’s mental health status through interviews and observation. Follow plan of care, de-escalation techniques, positive support role, and crisis intervention techniques. Ability to communicate effectively, including the ability to read, write and speak English clearly. Ability to assess situations and make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities. Anticipate possible outcomes of actions and react accordingly. Ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality services; ability to exchange support, constructive criticism, and ideas with others. Ability to effectively work one: one with individuals and within group settings. Ability to plan and prioritize work to manage time effectively and accomplish assigned tasks. Ability to self-manage tasks effectively and communicate needs.
