Lone Oak Farm is a 6th generation family farm producing corn, soybeans, and turkeys in Le Sueur County. Our team is committed to producing quality farm commodities with an eye towards safety, diversification, and continual improvement.
We are looking for someone to operate and manage our turkey production enterprise where we produce 130,000 toms per year without antibiotics. In addition to managing day-to-day operations for optimum production you will be responsible for most managerial decisions. In spring and fall there will be opportunity for additional hours in the grain operation.
Daily responsibilities
Managing the operation for optimum productivity and bird health
Strict adherence to biosecurity measures
Reporting production metrics
Managing highly technical control systems
Maintaining optimum litter and air quality
Ordering feed as needed
Maintaining the exterior: mowing, snow removal, and general maintenance
Maintaining mechanical equipment: motors, fans, water system, and curtains
Walking barns at least twice per day
Communicating with company supervisor and management
Strive for continual improvement and successful production without antibiotics
This job might be for you if you have a high school education and work well individually as well as part of a team. A farm background and experience with poultry is important. You must be able to lift 50 pounds and climb a ladder. Problem solving, and individual initiative is a plus.
Competitive wage paid based on experience. Bonuses paid for longevity, safety, and performance. Health insurance is an option. Some weekends required and hours will be long during barn turnaround.
